Ok, I am very confused at how you are supposed to add a phone and use a custom template. I followed the directions on creating the template, editing it, and restarting the Mgt Console service.

So when a fully reset phone shows up in Phones, 3CX already categorizes it according to the default 3CX template. When you try to add the phone to an extension you can't choose a custom template, only the one 3CX has already identified it with.

If I try and do it manually in Extensions I can select the custom provisioning template, but after I fill in the form and select OK nothing happens. The phone does not provision and it still shows up in Phones as unprovisioned.

Please tell me what I am missing. I'm migrating from 9 and things were so much easier to accomplish and customize back then. Thanks

Craig

No magic in v15.5. PnP provision only works with the default templates. If you make a custom template you have to provision the phone manually via the web interface of the phone or otherwise point your phone to 3CX (DHCP Option 66, RPS, etc).

Ahh, that's a nice change. So are you saying it's working or are you saying you follow those steps and it doesn't work?

Yes, it worked that way for me. Not sure why they just don't allow you to choose the correct template when they ask what extension to associate it with. That is the way I would have imagined it to go.

Glad to see the issue has been resolved. As you may be aware custom templates are not supported by 3CX so when you assign or add a phone to an extension the default template will be chosen.
