Hi,

Is it possible to add Company Contacts to handset speed dials?

It looks like the SPEED DIAL and BLF options do the same thing? Shouldn't the Speed Dial option be used for external numbers?
I know you can add a CUSTOM SPEED DIAL - but this defeats the purpose of having company controlled Contacts, I don't want to have to change the contact on every single handset each time.

Thanks

Use the directory on the phones?

By the way, BLF shows a light with the extension status. Not SPEED DIAL.

Thanks for the reply.

I understand that the BLF option shows the extension status, it also allows you to pickup that extensions calls etc.
However, why would you use the less featured SPEED DIAL when you can use BLF - therefore why even have the SPEED DIAL option if it is only used for extensions and essentially is a feature that BLF already does?

Yes i understand we can use the Directory, however if you want call to a contact, that means having to run through the directory to find the person you want, instead of just having a simple SPEED DIAL?
You can also use the directory for extensions, but you have Speed Dials for those and not Contacts?

Thanks

Because there are cases where you don't want users to see when other users are busy, ringing, etc, but you still want to give them the ability to quickly call them.

You have 2 options here the way |I see it:
  • Manually add Custom Speed Dials for the Contacts you want, although that means that if you change any information of a contact, you would also have to update the Speed Dials of the Extensions.
  • Give your users access to the WebClient, through which they can 'remote control' their IP Phone

This way, they can use their PC to quickly look through all contacts, but still use the IP Phone to speak and receive calls.

Thanks...

Another simple feature that 3CX doesn't offer.
