When I add a new extension, the system ignores the 3 digit authentication password I enter and saves its own 10 digit password which I cannot see, and so the softphones cannot register. Help!

No it doesnt do that, am quite sure! :-)

In the server, you will see 10 dots or * in the password field after you have saved it, but it doesn't mean that the password has been converted to 10 digits. I think it shows like that just for security reasons. The problem you get is not related to that at all.

Thanks for that. Yes you are right, that isnt the problem. The problem is that the system monitor is showing offline and none of the extensions cannot register and all show in red. I saw some previous posts on this problem but dont see any resolution?? Running network on XP if anyone can help.

Make sure your firewall is configured accordingly and not blocking 3CX traffic. When phone try to connect the server you will find entry under SERVER STATUS in 3CX System.

I have 3 extensions with PAP2T on each extension on my free edition 3CX phone system.

I have noticed that in my free edition, if the server has been re-booted for some reason, then the extensions status indicators in 3CX phone System turn red, and in the server status I can see an error regarding the password. It seems to me that the 3CX phone system looses the password I entered upon creating the extensions.

To resolve this, I have to re-enter the password for each extension and save the settings in 3CX followed by re-booting of PAP2T units to turn the line status to green.

Can anybody explain why this happens and what the remedy is?
