We are currently running V18 of 3CX. We used to be able to add multiple email addresses per extension, but now I am getting "Invalid Email Address" when I add more than one. For instance, we like to send an email and text message when there is a voicemail. This is how it was setup in the past: [email protected], [email protected]

I am no longer able to do this and is a HUGE problem if we can only have one email at a time. I have also tried eliminating the space between the two ([email protected],[email protected]), but to no avail. Please advise.

So there is no way we can add multiple email addresses per extension anymore?

We are using this particular extension as an "On-Call" extension. The on-call person changes weekly and we use both their email address and cell number.

No this is no longer possible.

We are using this particular extension as an "On-Call" extension. The on-call person changes weekly and we use both their email address and cell number.
So every extension was configured with two email addresses, one of them being a service that sends them a mobile SMS/MMS? How many extensions/users are there that can be on-call in total?

The only way to do this would be to create additional "dummy" extensions for everyone of these "on-call" extensions and then add them all to a Ring Group or create separate Ring Groups one for each extension. I can't say that I'd recommend this configuration as it can quickly get messy and hard to manage, maybe even impossible if we're talking about a large number of extensions.

It may be easier to consider other ways of achieving this such as implementing some kind of rule on the email client to automatically forward these kind of emails to the SMS/MMS service email.

Sorry for the late reply back, but I was able to convince to only use 1 email at a time. It's not ideal for their situation, but it'll be what it'll be.

Thanks

You could use a distribution group that contains the emails.

i just don't understand why only 1 email address. so now for new customers they will need to setup a distribution mailbox which most customers don't know how to do or are looking for instructions from us on how to do it (more unecessary time spent on an install) and worse, for existing customers that had multiple emails, we will need to tell them that it no longer works that way and to create these distribution mailboxes. backwards engineering much?

Because of the Teams/O365 integration and more. Having multiple addresses in the field is just looking for problems.

Multiple emails in the same extension was never really the intention as there was no actual reason for it in regards to 3CX functionality. Admins will of course find ways to utilize anything and use it to their advantage so I understand that this may be an inconvenience for some, but, as @ConceptsWeb not only it was not the intended design but it could also potentially cause issues in certain situations.

@sevenvoip
Glad to see you managed to straighten this out!
