Anyway to stop MOH playing over initial prompt?

Does anyone know how to stop the music on hold playing while the initial message is playing?

Yes when the calls come in on the main number they go straight to a queue, at this point it plays both the initial prompt and the MOH

This is the default designed behavior (lower volume of MOH, play message,resume MOH normal volume), but there is not way to disable it i'm afraid.

I would suggest to add some silence to the queue MOH in the beginning of the file if you wish to have complete silence.

do you have a mixed message with music added to MOH ? is it your problem?

You need to record initial message without music and then this is mixed by PBX with MOH

Very few companies record background music, along with the initial queue recording. The initial post seemed to be more concerned that the MOH was playing at the same time, as the outgoing message, which some find distracting. If the MOH is custom, with inserted voice messages, especially close to the start, then this can create additional issues that must be considered.
