Hi there,

Yesterday I finished setting up my 3CX system on my Raspberry Pi, it worked! Today I found out that my ISP modem/router is taking over the VOIP connection, this cannot be disabled unfortunately. I also found out that it works again (for a few minutes/hours) when I refresh my registration manually.

Is there a solution to automatically refresh the registration (even though it says OK) every X minutes?

Kind regards,
Daan

For a few $$ a month you could stick your 3CX in the cloud (or free for a year with 3CX Hosting) and use an SBC to bypass your network troubles.

I tried putting 3CX on Google Cloud but it wouldn’t connect to my SIP Provider. Only with my ISP IP it seems.

Is there an automated script I could run on my Pi to automatically refresh the registration?

Does your SIP Provider have IP restrictions for registration.

you may need to add your hosted IP to your SIP Provider's allow list.

Not that I'm aware of, I don’t see any settings for that.

What do you mean exactly by it's taking over? Please elaborate

Do you mean that your number rings the ISP modem line out instead of the 3CX trunk?

Does the provider allow you to use your voip lines outside of their own modem?

Yes, my number rings the ISP modem line instead of 3CX. My ISP says I can only use voip when I use a modem of my own, but I got it working anyway. There must be a way to keep it working, like a workaround script that I can run in the background.

Please let me know if you've got an (unofficial) solution!

If you have a registration based trunk then 3CX will automatically renew the registration when needed to keep the registration alive.
But it seems that your modem is doing the same so it might be random as to where the call will land depending on who refreshed the registration last. You need to find a way to disable the trunk registration on your modem (or SIP in general) to have this working.

I called my ISP and they said this cannot be disabled. The only solution is connecting a modem of my own. Is there really no other solution?
