On one had, I get the theory of "opening a case" in the correct forum, and yes it's confusing when people don't do that. However:

The licenses under our account are all incorrect. The forum has all our clients' licenses incorrectly detected as On-Premise so I can't post in the Self-hosted category.

This also prevents people from asking questions in the correct category. I cannot post questions about StartUP that category, they need to be posted here with a system/license that is irrelevant. There should be a "no system, new question" option when posting. Perhaps:
"not system related - new StartUP question"
"not system related - new Self-hosted question"
"not system related - new Hosted question"

Upon reflection “new StartUP question” is bad phrasing as I’m sure many new to 3CX equate “StartUP” to “getting started.”

Perhaps “not related to an existing installation, I have a question about____”

Can license keys be marked in the partner portal? If not maybe detect it as a public WAN IP is hosted. Detection isn’t going to be perfect. Maybe by IP correlated to BIOS/manufacturer? (VM + public IP)

Can license keys be marked in the partner portal?
Rereading this, to clarify, I meant, give partners the ability to mark their license keys as to what type of hosting they are.

Hi Steve, They can not be marked from the partner portal. Please send us an email to [email protected] including the license key and the link to this forum post so we can look into it. :)

customers@3cx.com :) but thanks, I sent the list.

Correcting the licenses doesn't fix the inability to post questions in the correct forum, though. Currently (before they are fixed), to ask a question about SMB I have to post in the On-Premise forum, pick a license that is actually Self-Hosted, and ask a question about how SMB works. Perhaps I should have asked them to put one in each category, hmmm....

Following up...

Not sure why part of my post above is crossed out. Perhaps it switched to strikethrough formatting? Don't recall seeing that at the time.

3CX customer support declined to reassign the licenses. Although "self hosted" is intended for "private cloud," hosting servers in our data center on our own server cluster still qualifies as on-premises.

Yea I self host all my licenses, yet I have to post under on premise. I don't really care so I haven't said anything ha.
