Changing recording retention - can I force the deletion of older items?

Currently ran out of space on the machine and its causing the system to go down.

i've changed the days to keep recordings - can I action this to start deleting immediately?

Disk space can be a challenge especially when you have legal or regulatory mandates to keep recordings for a prolonged period of time. For example, in Wisconsin where I live, Investment Brokerages are required to keep a copy of EVERY call, inbound or outbound (including internal calls) for 15 years. In a busy office that is a lot of storage.

I encourage you to take a look at the AWS file gateway service. Essentially, you create a drive (example X which is pointed to the file gateway. Save your archived files there and AWS will automatically migrate your recordings from on-line, to near-line, to glacier storage automatically based on the last time the file was accessed (you specify the thresholds). Curiously, files in glacier storage are free until you access the file. But not to worry, accessing a file in glacier storage is so fast you would never know it is not local storage.

Alternatively, you might consider taking a look at our 3CX Recording Manager tool. We implement compression of recordings that make the files 75% smaller than the original, but you cannot hear the difference from the original. This is done by eliminating all the "noise" that is outside the human hearing range. That means you can store 75% more recordings in the same disk space.
