Hey All,

I just did an install at a school and it was brought to my attention after the fact that they use the phones as their intercom system to speak with teachers in each classroom. I installed Fanvil X3U phones in each classroom and the front office will intercom to each room for announcements, etc. I have the speaker volume on each of the phones maxed out but they are saying that the volume is still too low to be able to be heard in a "quiet" classroom.

I just enabled "PBX Delivers Audio" for each of the classroom extensions in the hope that that would boost the volume a bit. I'm waiting to hear from the end users to see if this made any difference. I read that PCMA and PCMU codecs are better for the Fanvil phones, and I have those at the top of the codec list in the PBX.

I am hoping someone out there has done a similar type of install or has an environment similar to this who might be able to make any suggestions on how to increase the intercom volume.

There may only be so much that can be done, and this may simply be a limitation of the set itself. The usual recipient, of a page, is probably sitting right next to the set.
