Hey,

I have a host of polycom phones on my network who are sending video fast updates via SIP INFO. The response from my 3CX server is a 415 Media Type Unsupported. If I use sipp and change the content type to application/csta+xml the video fast update goes through properly however these phones don't allow me to configure that specific use case.

Is there a way to enable Content Type: application/media_control+xml for sip info messages in 3CX?

Thanks,
Jacob

Hi Jake,

The phones are the ones sending this, so the PBX has nothing you can control to change the type of message.

Was there a specific goal you had in mind here?

The polycom phones supports only AVP not AVPF so no nack, no pli. The only way it can request a key frame is using out of band signalling. The device itself uses spec RFC 5168 - XML Schema for Media Control. That being said when the Content-Type is media_control+xml the sip info message doesn't go through and instead gives a 415 and asks for application/csta+xml. I enabled csta on the phone itself however it doesn't use it to send the video fast updates.

In a perfect world 3CX would just forward my SIP INFO message to me enabling me to send a keyframe back.

The spec is located at:
https://tools.ietf.org/html/rfc5168

I just want to add the accepted content type to 3CX
