Ability to be able to copy an existing extension and then be prompted to enter new extension number and the provisioning information if required

+1!
We need this functionality, copy extension (voice mail settings, rights, ring group and queue membership).

How is this not available yet. We need this asap please!!

Have to setup over 180 extensions all with same starting options. Maybe I should send 3CX my list and they setup these extensions. Might help them understand the importance of this near three year old feature request.

While I really like 3CX you guys just simply have to get more efficient at some of this basic functionality and feature request progress.

If you are talking about BLF settings, you can set up the extensions and then select all of them, click edit, and modify the BLF settings for all simultaneously.

If not, I would highly suggest making a single extension, exporting the extensions CSV, then copying the settings and pasting underneath in the csv. Then you can import all of them in a single click.

The 3CX Call Control API exposes all of these extension properties. It is entirely feasible to create a small utility for this (we actually created an enhanced import tool years ago). I could envision a screen that lists all of the existing extensions. You select the extension you want to clone, set a starting extension number, the number of new extensions needed, select whether to duplicate forwarding rules, auto generate self identification message, queue membership, etc. and press the "clone" button. We could do it.

dredd0606 offers some good advice above and that may help some. Unfortunately the CSV export and import is also limited or just hasn't been kept up-to-date as features were added.

For example, and in this case, all users should have only external calls recorded but in the CSV is still the old off/on for just RecordCalls which lacks the specifics to record only external calls. If you have other ideas I'm very interested in options to help with these setups. We just did a smaller 35 extension setup and it was a pain even for so few.

These guys want to set default forwarding options, options like multiple calls, disabling the default ability for users to start/stop recordings, security settings like blocking tunnel connections for those never needing it, and rights like the ability to park or transfer calls, etc.

So I guess really both should exist, copy extension, and updated Export/Import but since this feature request is about copying an extension I'll stay on point.

To put into perspective, how many other modern phone solutions can you think of where you cannot copy an extension? 3CX is great just needs some of these type items put to bed. A roadmap communicating when these features will be released would calm a lot of the noise on these idea threads but that's a whole other uncompleted (as far as I know) feature request.

Matthew, we are looking at VoIPTools for the OnCall Manager. Might be exactly what we need. However, I can't imagine paying to have written functionality that should be inherently in the core product. Copying an extension is just too basic a feature consider paying for 3rd party development. That said, it may be another reason for people to buy your bundle if it was added and kept up-to-date. That's up to you but really copying extensions should be a core 3CX feature.

+1 !!!! (actually, +1,000,000)
As 3CX is getting more and more options and features, a small mistake is easily made. Supporting over 50+ installations daily, this feature would make it a lot easier, reducing the creation time from around 10 minutes per extension to 1 I guess.....
