Solved Create Personal Identification for Call by Name without a phone?

I have set up the free version of 3cx for testing, and created a few extensions, but have not purchased an IP phone yet. I am having the same issue as described here:

I tried uploading a Voicemail Greeting on the Extension-Voicemail tab, but that did not help. Is there a workaround?

Hello @ITSteve

Please note that you need to record a self identification message that is not the same as the voicemail prompt. You can register a 3CX client and follow the steps described in the thread you mentioned.

The thread states that I must have a physical phone to create the self identification message - is that correct? Or am I missing something?

The thread states that it cannot be done via the web client. You can do it by calling voicemail from your 3CX client.

I was able to dial 9999 to access voicemail via the android app, and set it there. Thank you.
