A simple step-by-step guide for phone template customization.​

An API is a great way to automate things - but if you want a simple customization route, then custom phone templates are a tried-and-tested vehicle.

You can create a custom template which will not be overwritten and can be self-maintained. It requires some know-how of the provisioning parameters of the IP Phones you wish to work with (in this case Yealink)...

Are customized templates supported by 3CX?
 
No any edits you have to test and support yourself. Also its a phone setting so its something you must do together with the phone vendor

Not sure if this is an option but, it would be nice if there were a way to change the template used without having to delete and re-add the device. That way, if we customize it and something is broken, we could click a dropdown, select the 3CX approved template, and get the user back up and running quickly.

Sounds easy but too many pitfalls, too many things that can go wrong this way. Both in the phone memory and in the 3CX database.

Also, you can do that already now, just delete the phone while registered and add it again if you still wanna do it without causing issues on the 3CX end at least.
