Hey guys,

I know this is a well-requested feature but I can't seem to find a definitive answer nor a 3CX update doing it.

My business PBX also serves for my home phone (so I have my mobile app). However, since both of these have different numbers and CID, I was wondering how I can change the name depending on what outbound rule/extension group is calling?

Just so my family doesn't see Business Name when I call them, and vice-versa.

For now, it is configured in the Outbound Parameters of my trunk.

If you have a separate DID for home and 1 for business, then ensure calls from "HOME EXT" use the home caller ID - and then your provider should be able to add the Caller ID name to that DID for a small fee.
I have several DID's ... 1 is the Main Line, 1 is the Helpdesk, 1 is a small remote office in another state - and each one has a Caller ID Name assigned.

I indeed have 2 independent DIDs. But, my old PBX, a Grandstream, had a separate option where I could set CIDs and names for extensions. It was under my Trunk settings, somewhat like 3CX DIDs list but with name and assigned extensions.

I can also do it from my provider but I find doing it via 3CX is simpler and gives a cleaner organization of the configuration.

You can set this, against extensions in the outside caller ID to be displayed option. That may over-ride the number set against the trunk if the trunk options are correct. That deals with the number. The name sent may depend on a database look-up, done by a provider, based on the number, that you have no control over. Many providers ignore any attempt to send a name.

Hello @Frederick Marcoux

To be able to have full control over this and leave the business trunk unaffected is to add a second trunk for your home number. That will enable you to adjust the outbound parameters of the trunk to send your caller ID and you can select which trunk the calls should go out from through outbound rules.

Yeah but adding a second trunk means I need a second SIP Host on my provider side which means more fees.

If you are using an IP based provider you may not have to get a second trunk as you can add a second trunk with the same IP only for outbound calls.
