Dear friends, I have installed 3cx at google cloud instance as a trial to use it in my company. I have created some extensions and tried connecting to them using my sip phones and atas (linksys spa-941 and PAP2). They are not connecting to the extensions. I have only got successful when using my cellphone IOS with 3cx soft phone. Is there/are there any specific config to be done in my devices beyond sip server/ username / password ? If so, what I have to do ? Many thanks

Are they behind SBC or STUN mode?

No, they aren’t

old phones and unsupported ATA are not able to work in STUN mode, this is why only your cell phone using APP is working fine.

You should be able to get the devices working , using STUN, but will no doubt require manual configuration. Do a search of the 3CX forums for using an ATA remotely. Use of more that one STUN device at single location can cause audio issues. Each device will require a unique local port, and may require the use of the "PBX Delivers Audio" option in the extension settings. Fax use, in this manner, is not supported.

oh gosh! Thanks anyway ! My boss doesn’t want to change our structure. I was planning to use 3cx because it seemed to be easier to work if compared to asterisk, but o think I will have no other option, if not running freepbx ;(

For sure it is , but you need supported phones to avoid problems and be able to set phones with help of templates

Hi @victorpiovesan

I suggest to check out list of supported devices before you proceed. https://www.3cx.com/support/

If changing devices or using softphones is not an option, then you can make those devices work by manually configuring them even though they are not 3CX supported.

You will be better off installing a local instance of 3CX on a VM or dedicated server for this purpose. By dedicated server we mean a machine that only runs 3CX and nothing else.

Many thanks! I was planning to have at least 4 extensions far from our headquarters, so, even when installing 3cx locally I would have to deal with these issues. Planning a vpn shouldn’t be an option right now. I guess by the moment that unfortunately only asterisk will give this option. I’m sad to be unable to use 3cx, but as a communications enthusiast I’m starting to use for my own use/home system as I will be able to work with 3cx projects in the future.
