Hi everyone,

We're pretty new to the 3CX Fax Server feature and we can't seem to get this (simple) feature to work. All we need is for Fax to Email to work. I opened up a support case with 3CX and they state that the trunk provider will need to support T.38 on their end. I've confirmed with two of the three providers that we've tested with that they are T.38 capable, so far we've tested with CallCentric, Voip.ms (not T.38 capable), and BabyTel.

We are on V15 SP3 (15.0.60903.0)

Each time I test a fax, this is what I get in the Activity Log:

12/30/2016 1:19:30 PM - L:235.2[Fax:888] Sending: OnSendResp Send 488/INVITE from 0.0.0.0:0 tid=3164b524a509d23d Call-ID=MqXqt7y2QxZ_NfOSDRU1Xw..: SIP/2.0 488 Not Acceptable Here Via: SIP/2.0/UDP 127.0.0.1:5483;branch=z9hG4bK-524287-1---3164b524a509d23d;rport=5483 To: <sip:[Incoming Fax Number]@[Our 3CX FQDN]:5060;nf=e>;tag=e81e812a From: <sip:888@[Internal 3CX IP]:5060;user=fax>;tag=f258bf33 Call-ID: MqXqt7y2QxZ_NfOSDRU1Xw.. CSeq: 2 INVITE Content-Length: 0

Any input in this matter would be greatly appreciated.

OK stay with this debug patch for now.. remember to revert to the main IVR EXE before you make the next service pack update and delete the debug exe. Then update to the next service pack.

I will write what providers need to do for babytel to get this working in the change log when we release sp5.

And thank you for helping us on this one..

@nickybrg

Do you have a patch for linux?

FYI, the systems I support using Fusion (formerly Broadvox) also had the same issue after upgrading to v15SP4. Testing with the debug IVR patch seems to resolve the issue for them as well.

Thanks a lot for your quick response Nicky.
I will follow your suggestion, and let you know the response.

King Regards,

Confirmed, was a problem of my Sip Provider, and T.38 works ok in v15 SP3.
Kind Regards,

Hello I have this issue also with fax to email , im using version 14 .
but difference is one fax does get send successfull when you try to send a second one , after 2 minutes thats when the problem comes in .
3cx supports want wireshark capture but I dont really know how to capture T38 traffic .

Hello @3cxtres

As i understand you have a ticket with out support department. Please install wireshark on the PBX machine and start the capture. Once you do run the test FAX. once it fails then stop and save the capture and send it to 3CX support along with the support info in verbose. As long as the capture you send is un-filtered then 3CX will see the fax data in the capture.

Update to v15 and this problem will go away..

Update to v15 and this problem will go away..
Well sorry Nick, but not really, i'm stuck with the V15 SP3 version as SP4 and SP5 are not working for me for fax2email too.
I'm using 3CX since the V11 and the latest versions have been a nightmare to me.
Incoming calls to a fax number finish after 1 second. Everything is working correctly as soon as i rollback to V15 SP3.

What provider are you using?
Now you must update to V15 Service pack 5 like this we ensure that you have the latest and greatest version.
After this, telling us what fax solution / service is failing would be beneficial. So we see if this is supported (we know it) or unsupported (have no clue how it works)
Then you make logs on latest version and we take it from there. Mentioning v11 of 5 years ago is not helpful.

nickybrg,
3CX's "Latest and greatest version" Always have bugs, and looks like support people always tell users to either update gateway device or go on latest build or update windows without doing any investigation.
When there is an issue going on users need to know why exactly that issue is happening.
What is the support for then? There is a difference between software maintenance and software support.

Yes and non latest version has more bugs.
Especially when that version was the version which released the new fax implementation first.

There is no need to do an investigation. My stance remains - I will blindly tell you to go to the latest version and come again. Its not to keep you busy and so you come back in 2 days time.

You need to go to the latest version because in those versions you are running, I know there were issues and the new fax module was released. It is impossible for a fax module to be released and on day one is supported by every fax device in the world. We are talking about fax here not some notepad ++ application.

Go and drill through pages of change log and you will see changes in fax.
