Firmware download location

I am running 3CX 16.0.3.525 on Debian. I noticed when I download new firmware for phones (Grandstream GXP2160 and 2170 in this case), the firmware is put in the firmware_new folder and does not get used. As soon as I copied the grandstream folder to the firmware folder, my Grandstream phones found and downloaded the new firmware without problems.

Is this a normal behavior?

I would of said the same, I use Yealinks however would not expect Grandstream to be any different. Select the model (in red text) and upgrade - works every time.

The only time I have experienced issues is when HTTPS is being blocked inbound on the sites firewall (firmware file sending basically) or when the endpoints have been provisioned manually or via paste of provisioning file (not PNP or RPS from 3CX).

I think you just circumvented checks that the PBX has in place. Those firmware files will remain in the new folder until you chose to apply them the first time.

When you pick at least one phone to upgrade, they will then be moved to the correct folder at that time, not before. The ringtones also get copied at the same time. I would suggest to not do it manually, but rather the way it was intended to avoid disappointment.

Okay, still learning the system with our own PBX, so I may have done something inadvertantly. It is good to know that the firmware lives in firmware-new UNTIL you tell it to upgrade. I'm pretty sure I did that, but I also regularly have 2 bazillion tabs open at once so may have been distracted and done something differently.

I would also recommend to get the latest 3CX update now because 16.0.3.676 release is officially out now (V16 Update 3)
