I searched the phone system manual 8 pdf for FXO and found no results. I searched for PSTN and it says VOIP gateway only.

Just want to confirm this.

Is there a side by side comparison of free vs SBE/Pro etc besides this
http://www.3cx.com/phone-system/3CXPhoneSystem_brochure.pdf

It doesn't mention pstn/fxo stuff.

There is no difference in the supported FXO or FXS devices between versions, only feature availability.
What specific FXO card are you wanting to use?

Thanks but there is no mention of FXO card support/pstn in the list. I'm kinda new to this in the first place so maybe I'm just missing some other lingo.

bottom line is I have an open vox a400p card that works with trixbox and I know I can configure 4 pstns with it in trixbox. Can I do the same with 3cx free?

I'm guessing not with an FXO card but only with that voip gateway that was mentioned. On the other hand, the flash animation on the home page depicts what looks like a 4 port fx card of some type.

Sorry, but you need to ask the "open vox a400p card" support team.
They must know what is supported by the card.

Thanks

Stepan, do you have a list of supported hardware somewhere? Do you have documentation that demonstrates/shows fxo hardware suport/configuration? The flash animation on the home page says
Connect PSTN lines using low cost voip gateways & cards... so which cards? where can I find out.

sorry for the edits. sometimes I reply too fast and then find the answer or get another idea :)

The "Links" to 3cx.com/blog and wiki.3cx.com are available

P.S. But you should ask the supplier of your card anyway :)

Openvox make great cards for Linux - they are Dugium clones. But Openvox has not Windows driver (like Digium - he he).
So you can only use a card that has Windows driver. Currently this is a Beronet,
