Hello,

So I recently installed our VOIP system with great success and everything was going well unitl I came to fit our Grandstream GDS3170. I have made all the connections and got the fobs and cards registered BUT when provisioning in 3CX it always reverts back to "NEW" status and I cannot make the outdoor unit call any phone line.

Can someone please give me some guidance of how to install properly to enable voice and video?

I have a full suite of Yealink T58's.

Thank you.

Hello,

Please see below
  • 3CX Version, 16.0.6.655
  • Is the 3CX Server Hosted and where? - Local
  • IP Phone Make/Model/Firmware - Grandstream GDS3710 + Yealink T58
  • Provisioning Method: Local
  • Has the Firewall Checker passed: YES
  • Are custom Phone Templates being used: NO
Is it on the latest supported firmware?

Is it on the latest supported firmware?

Yes all firmware is up to date. I have followed all instructions on the 3CX including the out of the box GDS3710 reset and manual provisioning but when trying to link to an existing or new extension number the list of phones still shows as New.

It might show up as new until you provision it. Once saved in the config, don't forget to put the link into the web UI. PnP should work but sometimes, depending on your network, it may not. In those cases, putting the URL is necessary.

Is it at least showing up registered? Even if it also shows as New.

This is where I appear to becoming unstuck. Where in the UI do I need to place the provisioning link?

This is the status of the unit regardless of assignment.

Sorry to ask, but this is for different models. Does this still apply in the same way?
Yes the UI is similar. It will normally be under Maintenance -> Upgrade/Provisioning. It's called Config Server Path.

Thanks Frederick, rain closed play today so I will try again tomorrow and report back.

Ok, I'm back... Struggling like hell!

First issue, I cant even get the door to open by putting in a code?! RFID tags work fine but cannot work with a manual entry? Can anyone help?

Secondly, 3CX will not work with this unit. I cannot provison the phone to an extension and I'm now at a loss. I dont understand how to make this unit call an extension when the bell button is pressed?

Lastly, can someone confirm that the server setting below are correct?

Guessing the device is on the same network as the 3cx server.

You need V16 Update 6 to provision the device.

Update the firmware if required - https://www.3cx.com/support/phone-firmwares/

I would factory default the unit, and it should appear under phones within 3CX management console

Follow steps 'Local Lan or SBC *** https://www.3cx.com/sip-phones/grandstream-gds37-series/

To make the device dial a number, you create a speed dial entry in the first BLF key

After doing the above, you should see the device as green under extensions

Ok thanks, I will try this.

Also, I've set a pin code and when I enter it and press # it just rings the bell and doesnt open the door. Any idea?

Ok progress update.

I have now managed to factory reset the unit and provisioned it sucessfully. When outside, if the doorbell button is pressed, the phones ring in the office BUT there is no audio and the doorbeel just keeps "ding donging".

Sorry for all the questions!!!

Hi Matt,

How did you provision it in the end though?
What did you select in the Provisioning Method?
Where is the PBX in relation to the doorphone IP-wise?

I master reset the GDS3710 using the cross wiring method which frankly I think is rediculous but it worked! After the reset the unit showed in 3CX and out of date so updated the firmware and away we went!

Do you mean the IP of the 3CX management and the IP of the door phone? Sorry I'm toally new to this.

I have now managed to make the bell work and open on DTFM but I cant get the video to work.

Log in to your webclient using the extension that the doorphone is programmed to call.

Ring the doorphone and answer from the webclient. Let us know if this works as a test first and we can take it from there

Hi John,

Thank you, I have done this test and the system connects via voice only and no video.

Ok at least we have voice. If you answer as video you should also have video (webclient) but if there's anything on your network equipment that messes with SIP (ie. SIP ALG / SIP Helper) you might have to disable that too.

I checked with the T58 and it seems the GrandStream does not support any of the codec profiles that the Yealink does so I'm not confident you will ever get video between those two. The Webclient however is confirmed 100% to have video working with the GrandStream.
