Hand off call from desktop app to mobile app

How do I hand off a call from my desktop app to my mobile app? I tried placing the call on hold but then I don't see that call as on hold in the mobile app. I could park it (I think) but I wouldn't want someone to accidentally pick up that call. Is there some trick to this?

Park is the easiest way but as you said, someone could pick it up but that would have to be some bad timing if you are just parking and then picking it up again. You could use a parking spot not mapped to a button for other users (like SP0-SP3 for company use and then SP4 only on the extension you want to move the calls between.

Actually, in doing further research and testing it seems that just transferring the call to myself is the easiest and best way. The only downside with this is the caller has to be placed on hold so the conversation is interrupted.

I thought picking up from park on mobile would be easy but I can't figure out how to do it. How do you pick up a call from park on the mobile app? For example, I park a call on SP0 from my desktop app and then try to pick it up from the mobile app. I have tried dialing *10, *1, *0, *01... I've seen some instructions about dialing using letters but I can't figure out how to do that. Also, I saw someone say they created company contacts for SP0, SP1, and so on but v16 won't allow phone numbers that contain alpha characters.

Just tried that. I parked a call from my desktop app to *00. When I dial *00 from the mobile it app it says "Call Failed, Forbidden".

To park a call:
BLIND Transfer Button followed by *00 to 09 to specify the parking orbit.
For example *01 will place the call in the parking orbit 1.
*02 will place the call in the parking orbit 2.

To pick up a parked call:
*10 to 19 where the 0 – 9 is the park orbit number
For example *11 will pick up any calls parked in parking orbit 1
*12 will pick up any calls parked in parking orbit 2

If you have Accept Multiple Calls on your extension, then you could technically blind transfer the caller to your own extension and answer it on your mobile which will start ringing.

only way that i know to pick up a shared parking location from the mobile client is to setup all the used sp's as contacts in 3cx and then to pick up, you simply call the sp# from your contacts list and to park a call in a sp location, you transfer to that sp# extension

only trick is, the only way to enter the sp#'s in the contact list is to import using csv. check the following post

park orbit is a different story and the suggestions above work but if you're using shared parking then this is the only solution i've found

Unfortunately the method of importing using a CSV doesn't work in v16. 3CX simply doesn't allow alpha characters in phone number fields.

Transferring to your own extension seems to be the best way to do a hand-off between endpoints. I guess for parking we will have to use the park orbits so we can pick up from mobile. Not sure why their are 2 unrelated ways to park/pick-up in 3CX...

Yes, it does help to explain the difference between the different parking methods. It doesn't explain why I can't pick up a Shared Park from the mobile app. Will that feature be added to the mobile app at some point?

I pick up calls in shared parking all the time. There’s a little trick to it.

Say you park the call in SP1. In the mobile app, you tap on the top in the dialer above the line keys and this brings up the keyboard. You then type SP1 and press done on the keyboard. This loads SP1 on line 1, you press the call button and it picks it up.

*Edit: Make sure you don’t tap on the contact where it says available, tap to the left or right and it’ll bring up the keyboard.

That's a bit more than a "little trick". The average user who rarely picks up a parked call is not going to understand or remember how to tap in some magical blank area to bring up the keyboard. I appreciate the tip but I REALLY hope 3CX comes up with a better solution for Shared Parking on mobile.

It's really not that magical. It's literally the entire dialer area above the line keys other than the middle. It's quite simple. I posted this link in another thread talking about the same problem in the Ideas forum. I can get a call out of park or put a call into park on mobile in seconds. Granted this isn't a "push button" solution that I think you're looking for, but it certainly is A solution for you in the meantime.

It works differently on Android. You first have to dial a digit on the number pad, then tap after the number to bring up the keyboard, type SPx, tap after the first digit, backspace, hit done, then hit call. Below is a link to a video showing this process.

Although this "works" it is really not a professional way to do this. 3CX needs to improve this. I have already up-voted both Idea posts related to this.

Yeah, as I said in the other thread...you would think that the port from iOS to Android would be the same. Perhaps it's a bug. You're right though, THAT way is definitely not ideal nor easy. I'm sorry it couldn't have been more help for you, however I'm glad it helped people like vizualpro and other iOS users that didn't know it was possible
