Hi Guys,

Hope someone can shed some light on the following issue?

We have continuous complaints about poor audio quality. Jitter specific. We have two way audio all the time. There isn't any routing issues.

3cx connects to Freeswitch within the same subnet (lan) and Freeswitch with two nics connects to the isp in a vlan. (No audio packets traverse from 3cx/freeswith over the internet).

Freeswitch also resides on the same vmware host hosting 3cx.

When showing the "gateway status" on Freeswitch it indicates that 3cx has a 100ms sip response time, whereas the ITSP shows 1- 3ms. When pinging from Freeswitch and vice versa from 3cx the ping times latency is below 1ms. No issues there.

Profile::Gateway-Name Data State Ping Time IB Calls(F/T) OB Calls(F/T)
=================================================================================================
dmz::test sip:none@test NOREG 0.62 0/0 0/0
dmz::3cx sip:none@3cx NOREG 100.76 0/0 0/0
voipbill::itsp sip:none@itsp NOREG 1.06 0/0 0/0
=================================================================================================

As a test I installed Startrinity sip tester on the same box as 3cx. The sip port is just different.

As you can see above the sip response (dmz:test) from freeswitch is perfect to the same ip on the same box as 3cx just another service listening on a different sip port. (dmz:3cx) on the same ip on sip port 5060 has a latency of 100ms.

What can cause this issue?

We had the same issue on hyper-v and thus tried it now on vmware with the same issue.

Herewith our client's server specs:

Vmware host.

3cx client vm specs:
3cx v16.0.6.655
Windows Server 2016 Std
4 cores (Intel Xeon Gold 6140 @2.3 GHZ)
8gb memory
80 gb ssd drive
vmxnet3 adapter. 10gb. Vmware tools installed and up to date.

Your help/ideas will be much appreciated.

Thanks

Hi John,

I went a step further and installed Prtg probe on the 3cx server itself. Prtg probe support sip options ping and I also get high latency. Essentially this is like getting a sip response on 127.0.0.1.

Can someone else perhaps do a sip options ping check locally and confirm if they get a better response? Just want to confirm if its a virtual/nic issue on my side perhaps although I tried everything.

Regards
