Hi @ all,

i have some Question, we need to send all Employes to there HomeOffice, there take her Phone with. - We try this at this moment many Phones.
At this moment i use STUN Connection, but we are not Able to performa NAT on the HomeOffice site.

So i play around to Install a SBC Server. - We have in the MainOffice the local 3CX Server - now i will install on a raspberry a addition sbc server. -

That the Phones from External can Connect without NAT to the SBC Server.

Anyone have try this Setup will i work ? - Or will it work more easy?

Best Regards,
Marcel

Yes, use the SBC. Much more easier to get the phones working.

I think something is lost in the translation. The SBC has to be local to the phone so not in the network with the PBX but with the remote phone. If this is not possible then there is no point in installing the SBC.

yes thank sou, i understand it now.

I will ow try a other solution with the Build in VPN Coient on the Phone, lookz the only solution thst i can now try.

Stun without NAT on 40different home envioment will not have success.

Best Regards,
Marcel

If it is just the one phone, at each home location then there should not be a lot of issues using STUN. Of course each home network is going to be different and may present problems, if the user also has home VoIP service from their ISP, or another provider. You can sometimes get around that by provisioning the local port on the set as something other than the most commonly used ports..5060, 5061, 5062, etc.

Do you absolutely need a deskphone? could it be possible to install 3CX app on smartphones or use webclient or windows app on computer ?

Could not agree more. We get this request a lot (and have had an obvious dramatic increase of requests recently also) however its more trouble than its worth. We are requesting/supporting app and web clients (without any additional charge) only.

The reason for this is that desk-phones will require far more support resource than web and smartphone Apps mostly due to client owned home devices (Sky, BT Home HUB, Virgin routers) etc that are auto-configured with settings which cannot be changed (and of which are not supportive for Voice over IP) of which clients have the ability in most cases to by-pass.

Another good point would be that most home workers would rarely have the infrastructure/hardware to support such phone devices anyway.

So, not to piggyback or take this off topic, but how do hosted providers such as Jive and 8x8 accomplish this? I have Jive clients for example with 50+ phones in a single location, no port forwarding or crazy NAT configurations required, just plug and play. Clients can take their phones home or to another location with internet with zero issues. Is there no way to configure 3CX in such a way? What are these providers doing at a network level to support this type of configuration that 3CX or it's supporting network can't do? Is it essentially just using tricks like in the old days of keeping the register on the phone around 60 seconds to keep the NAT pinholes alive?

I'd love to find a way to deploy 3CX on premise for clients in such a way that if they do want to take their phone home, they can do so without any reconfiguration.

If you can use the Webclient, mobile client, or windows client, then a secure connection can be established to your PBX without any NAT configuration, or VPN needed.

The mobile and desktop client have a built in tunnel that you can use automatically, and the webclient establishes a direct TLS connection with your PBX.

Cloud SBC. Like Bvoip and such.

@Brian DArcy You can take your phones home and use them if you want, however this as I said can cause issues when using provider routers at home, this is just the way it is. It might be perfectly fine to do this. I am just talking from experience here that you must be cautious.

In regards to other providers they maybe using true SBC's which offer ways around firewall configurations, NATPass is one such solution often used by resellers with 3CX: http://www.natpass.com/#section_3_wrapper
