Hello all, there is a few questions that bug me as I’ve looked into hosting. I only install on-premise 3cx systems however, I would like to host a few systems because I’m interesting recurring revenue. One of the main things I can’t seem to comprehend is how you would go about quoting a hosted system. An on premise system normally has costs involved such as: computer, router, switch, telephones, cabling. As I’ve come to understand hosted is a monthly fee where you don’t have the “upfront” costs associated with an on premise system. Here’s what confuses me, if a client has a office with 10 desktop phones (as an example) wants a hosted system because they don’t want the upfront costs associated with on premise, how would it be any different? You still need a computer to create an sbc, you would still need a router, still need a PoE switch, and still need telephones. So how would creating a hosted phone system Be any different from a on premise as upfront cost is concerned? Thanks

There are a lot of factors involved in determining hosted cost, In my case we have a COLO server that we own, we pay a set fee to the datacenter, however using ESXI I can put up a vm in no time, no extra cost for me, but just space. One of the benefits are the bandwidth, a on prem may not have the bandwidth available to run a large PBX, as in the datacenter bandwidth is not an issue. Just something to think about

Hi @Aaronb160,

To begin with, after the one year of the 3CX hosted free period, you will need to pay an annual fee in order to continue with 3CX hosted.

By choosing to host your 3CX system with us you get many beneficiaries such as:
  1. We monitor your 3CX system 24/7.
  2. We deploy your instance to cloud provider DigitalOcean and automatically configure firewall rules.
  3. We take nightly backups.
  4. Hosted 3CX support assistance 24/5
  5. Many more
You can find more about what 3CX hosted offers here.

Yes, indeed you will need an SBC to be installed on a dedicated machine which can be a local server without any costs if you necessarily need to use IP phones. However, you can always use 3CX apps or the WebClient which does not require an SBC.

All that is correct, but you get the redundancy of a cloud platform, and the one-click install.

Also updates are automatically installed.

FWIW we host our clients in our data center, like Chris. To each their own...we already do it for web hosting, and want more hands-on control. Any hosted solution normally has way more Internet redundancy than one office ISP, and more platform redundancy than one hardware PC.

Not all clients want phones...can use a headset, or mobile app. We went home during quarantine and just took our headsets home.
