On 3CX 15.6.
I use Flowroute for all domestic and international calls, but also have a phone number with Messagenet (configured as a SIP trunk in 3CX) which I would like for 3CX to use when calling (and receiving calls from) Italy.
How do I set up the outbound and inbound rules to achieve this?

outbound rules are easy,

7 digits, > flowroute
5551212

10 digits, > flowroute
8005551212

11 digits, > flowroute
8005551212

12 digits, > messagenet
39 000 0000000

13 digits, > messagenet
039 000 0000000
I do not know about Italian phone numbers but I think that would work.

inbound rules, I would think just call your own trunk number and look at the activity log, it should be easy but it may put a +039 depending on the trunk.

Flowroute is configured like that and works great.
As for Messagenet, I have configured as in the attached screenshot, but can't get through and receive the error below:

Call or Registration to 01139xxxxxxxx@(Ln.xxxxx@Messagenet) has failed.
xxx.xx.xx.xx replied: 403 No Route To Destination; warning: Noisy feedback tells: pid=8468 req_src_ip=xxx.xxx.xx.xxx req_src_port=xxxx

I did not specify the length of digits since it can vary from 8 to 10.

What happens when you don’t prepend and that number?

What happens when you ask MessageNet? After all you appear to be sending them the call and they are rejecting it so they should be able to tell you why.

Fails, but tries to use Flowroute instead of Messagenet and shows error 404 instead of 403.

I'll check with them.
When I place Messagenet above Flowroute in the Outbound Rules list, I'm able to call out, but that breaks Flowroute (I can't call US numbers).

If you want certain calls to only go out MessageNet then you shouldn't have Flowroute as a backup or a route that matches. You need to get more granular with your outbound rules. If you can't, then you need to have people dial with a prefix (like 9 for Flowroute and 8 for Messagenet)

So, I did it. I set the outbound rule as follows:
  • Calls to numbers starting with prefix: 39
  • Route 1: Messagenet: Strip Digits: 2

Dialing out 39 followed by the number (e.g. 06-555-5555) works.
