Hi,

We have a client with a bunch of legacy Polycom VVX phones (310 and 311) and some newer and supported VVX450 phones.

They have just been moved from a Skype For Business to 3cx, and are not used to press "Dial" to initiate the call. This looks to be a polycom/template issue.
Found this forum entry, https://www.3cx.com/community/threads/xml-digitmaps-for-polycom-to-autodial.83457/post-389155 with a solution from @rattler555 , about customizing the template - which is easy enough, though unsupported.

However, I cannot get the setting to actually work :/

All my config needs to do
  1. Dial 1xx without having to press dial (emergency and service numbers)
  2. Dial 4 digit extensions without having to press dial
  3. Dial 6 digit external numbers without having to press dial
  4. Dial +45xxxxxxxx external numbers without having to press dial
  5. Dial 0045xxxxxxxx external numbers without having to press dial
I'm perfectly fine with having to press dial for other interntional calls - 99% are to Denmark (+45)

This is the customization I've added to the custom template

And the exported config from the phone has the same settings.

I know this isn't supported, but maybe someone has an idea - I'm pretty sure I missed a simple setting somewhere.

So if it's making it into the phone config then this is no longer a 3CX issue. Best bet is to use the Polycom forums. Put the dialplan in directly to the phone web interface first to test and then update your template.

I acutally started by using the webinterface on the phone - no luck.
I'm pretty impressed by the 3cx forums, decided I should start here. Still hoping :)

Yeah folks here a generally helpful but Poly's are not used much so I think experience is limited. Since the change is Polycom specific that's why I recommended asking there.

Well, I guess I was a dummy - I was testing it wrong ...
Got it working now, and will present it to the client.
  1. Copied the default provisioning template
  2. Added
    dialplan.1.digitmap="1xx|[2-9]x.T|0045xxxxxxxx|+45xxxxxxxx|00x.T|+x.T|*x.T"
    dialplan.1.digitmap.timeout="3"
  3. Test 1: Reprovision the phone with the new template. All OK.
  4. Test 2: Factory reset the phone and provision with new template. All OK.
The only question that remains is wether to edit the provided provisioning template and then reprovision all phones, or make a copy and delete/add/provision the phones.
By using the default template I risk it being overwritten by an update, but as these are legacy phones, that's pretty unlikely to happen.
Creating a new provisioning template takes quite a bit longer as I need to delete/add 100+ phones *and* they will be red with the custom template warning.

1xx: Dial three digit service numbers starting with 1. No delay
[2-9]x. Dial any regular number number not starting with 1. 3 second delay
0045: Dial Danish numbers. No delay
+45: Dial Danish numbers. No delay
00x.T: Dial any international number. 3 second delay
+x.T: Dial any international number. 3 second delay
*x.T: Dial any number starting with "*". 3 second delay

Only thing missing (and not sure if needed): Dial 4 digit extensions or local calls starting with 1, but if that is needed we just need to add all service numbers (or a suitable pattern).
