Hello all,

I already had this issue in v16 and still have it in v18.
It seems, there is something not quite right with the DND-function.

In general, there are two ways to activate it:
-With a dedicated DND-button on any provisioned phone (IP Phone or 3CX app)
-By dialling a code: *61 = DND on, *60 = DND off

The latter is used by many DECT-handsets, since they don't have a dedicated button.

Both work in regards to that in both cases, a phone in DND does not receive phone calls from groups, queues or direct calls.
But something strange goes on with the appearance to others and the ability to (de-)activate it.

I can best show it with a screenshot, of both the new Windows client and the old Windows client:
1631106829917.png

In this screenshot, user 100 RP has activated DND mode by dialling *61
He cannot be called, so it works.
However, as you can see in the screenshot, in the new client he still shows up as 'available' (beschikbaar in Dutch).
In the old client, he shows up with a 'one way street'-sign before his name.
On his IP Phone (Yealink), the DND-icon does not show up and the DND-button cannot be used to disable DND. In fact, if you use it, you get some kind of double DND :)

User 106 MT in the screenshot has used the dedicated button on the phone to activate DND.
He shows up with 'niet storen' (do not disturb) in the client and with a red icon in the old client.
He cannot dial *60 however to disable DND.

So it seems there a two different kinds of DND: one with the button, the other one with the dial codes.
Both work fine (eg. you get no calls), but they are not both displayed properly in the client.
And, it is possible to accidentally activate both DND modes at the same time.
And you cannot deactivate mode 1 with the method of mode 2.

I would be great if there was one DND mode 'to rule them all'.
I'd say the real DND-button works best and it would be useful if the dial codes could simply trigger that DND-mode/setting as well.

Thanks!

There are 2 types of DND available. There is the one that is in the Yealink itself (DND button) and the other which is a dial code (*61). The Yealink DND in its local default implementation when sent an invite will respond with a 404, 480 or 486 response code if DND is set. You can set the code thru the web interface. Being local, it does not impact the BLF, but rather lets the system know that should a call come in and be directed to the extension that it will not take the call due to the response code selected. You may get a partial ring sometimes.

On the other hand, the Yealink does allow for custom configurations of the DND key. It can be set to accommodate a single account, multiple accounts and modified to send a specific dial code such that the DND is accommodated at the system level rather than at the phone level.

My take is that if using the dial code of *61 does not set the BLF key, then there is nothing you can do programmatically at the phone to somehow get the system to set the BLF key to busy and have the system react to same accordingly.

When using the dial code, it does reflect a busy (BLF) when set to on using the presence feature of the v12 client software, I just don't happen to have a Yealink here at the house this Sunday morning to test."

Thanks for your answer.
If I dial *32 it says 'out of office status set' (in Dutch) to me. However, it does enable DND.
The DND icon on the phone shows up and the status can be disable/enabled with the dedicated button as well... It also shows as 'do not disturb' in the 3CX clients.

So, it would seem *32 = DND on and *30 = DND off.

If this is indeed the case, then 3CX could/should:
-change the voice prompt that is played back, because it says 'out of office status set' instead of 'do not disturb set'. The 3CX Client calls it 'do not disturb' so that is the right name. I'm using Dutch voice prompts, perhaps the English one says something else
-disable to *60 and *61 completely and remove them from the interface.

Thanks, I will let everyone use the 'new' codes and tell them the voice prompt 'out of office set' actually is the 'do not disturb'

*60 and *61 have been deprecated and removed from 3CX guides for a while now. We do not recommend you use this code nor share it with others.

It still exists in the system for legacy reasons, and it may be completely removed in a later version without prior warning.

I thought I'd change the prompt myself in the Prompt Manager, but it seems (a bug?) nothing can be changed there?
I can download prompts and select 'browse' to select and upload a new one, but no matter what I try, I cannot upload/change any prompts. I also tried copying the entire set to a new name, because I thought perhaps the built-in sets were 'protected' or something, but that didn't help either :-)

No problem, you can change it, just follow this which explains how its done:
https://www.3cx.com/docs/localize-promptsets/

But in short, you just create a copy of the prompt set, change anything you like, then set the new set as the default.

Yes, you are correct, I am getting old :) I'm starting to feel like legacy myself.....

Yes, I tried that, but for some reason, it's not working.
I can select a file using 'browse' (I gave it a different file name), but after that, nothing changes in the UI and the old file is still shown and used.

The filename becomes automatically renamed to the original once you upload a file.

If you hit the download button it should give you the custom file you just uploaded (play it to hear).

Just make sure you restart the services after you change your prompts so they can be loaded, because the system has cached the original ones in memory still.

Ah, okay, thanks!
I tried 'play by phone' and it gave me the old prompt :)
So I had the 'old' name and 'play by phone' giving me both the old prompt, so I really thought it wasn't working.

Downloading it gives me the new prompt...
Reloading the services will probably work, I'll do that later.
This info really need to be added to the interface then :-) I'm sure I'm not the only one thinking nothing happens :)
