Hi Everyone,

We have a client that we are proposing 3CX to and they are wanting to know about failover since we have two internet circuits and the SonicWall has both connections in high availability. Both are symmetric fiber connections into the building. Primary is a 500/500 (AT&T) and secondary is 100/100 (CenturyLink)

I know I would have to create inbound rules for both SonicWall interfaces and I think I could make the outbound rule apply to which ever interface is active. I am also aware the call would be dropped and system would be out for the amount of time it takes the SonicWall to swap.

Is it possible to have 3CX on premise use the failover internet if needed automatically or would we need to go change settings. I ask as I know the public IP address has to be set static or dynamic.

All I saw was cloud cloud cloud :)

Perhaps there is more complexity than what is worth, and failover from an on-premise host to a cloud host and vice versa is not supported.

Failover with a multiple wan router does work. Just set your ip to dynamic and if you dont use a 3cx fqdn, use a dynamic dns provider for your fqdn with a low ttl.
Of course your Trunk provider must support a dynamic ip.

I would love to do cloud but we are looking at using the VOIP tools suite for advanced reports, recording beep and ability to change caller ID since we they have offices in three different cities across two states.

VoIP tools works for non 3CX hosted cloud instances so that shouldn't stop you from going cloud.
