Hi everyone,

We are preparing to onboard a client that works with blind and visually impaired individuals. They have a specific accessibility requirement: they need a desk phone that provides spoken audio feedback when buttons are pressed (e.g., pressing button 5 speaks "five" aloud through the speaker or handset).

Does 3CX officially support any IP phones with a built-in "talking keypad" feature?

What are the best available options or workarounds to achieve this functionality while maintaining smooth integration with 3CX?

Thanks in advance.

Sincerely,
Anthony Rodriguez

While I've never come across a phone with (operation) speaking capability, let alone a VoIP set. That doesn't mean it doesn't exist. A google search for any model that does what you want, would be your best bet.

I feel pretty confident in saying that 3CX does not currently support a phone like that as it is a very specific feature and there are many (considered) mainstream models that not yet supported. However, just because it isn't supported, doesn't mean it won't work. The majority of sets for the visually impaired seem to be limited to large buttons, unfortunately. There might be a PC SIP application that is compatible with 3CX.

Most blind people would use something like Jaws as a screen reader.
So as long as the app is Accessibility friendly, you should be fine.

@Anthony R , with update 10 we are streamlining custom IP phone template creation and integration/maintenance. This would mean it would be easier to get a phone that has the accessibility features you want to work with 3CX in a properly integrated manner.

And if Braille on the buttons is a sufficient solution, the Fanvil X305 is a supported device.

Hi team,

I found some ip phones with android OS that could be a possibility: yealinks vp59, t58w, nevetheless, I'm wondering if with the new update 10 I will have support to make it work properly on 3CX since they are still not on the preferred IP phone list?
