In recent 3CX updates, you’ll have noticed several changes regarding IP Phones. These were necessary to strengthen system security and simplify the configuration process. Let’s break them down one by one.

IP Phones Added Back to Supported

Some supported IP Phones were marked by vendors as EOL. With no new firmware, these mo...

I did not see the status of a Yealink T40G phone in either list.
Is it Supported or EOL? Please advise.
We still have many deployed...

So grateful so many Yealink models are back under support. Knowing they should not be purchased new, but for existing installations, etc., it's huge. Thanks again.

We're happily rocking Grandstream GXP2160's and want to trial the latest firmware which is more recent than what's included in 3CX v18 U5 on a few select phones. Is there any way to temporarily (for a few weeks) stop 3CX server from updating firmware to all phones? Otherwise, the server overwrites the newer firmware with it's old version. We did try modifying the phone template to not check for updates, but 3CX server ignores the setting.

Remove the phone from autoprovisioning and remove the firmware URL from the phone.

As mentioned in the post, these Yealink models (T29G, T41P, T42G, T46G & T48G) were unable to keep up with the security updates implemented in Update 5. With this new firmware, the mentioned limitation is fixed.
The Yealink T40G did not have this limitation so you still can use it as before.

I was pleased to see that the Yealink T42G is back on the supported list. I followed all the instructions but our T42G's would not auto-provision.

It took some time to find the solution which is to set DHCP option 66, on our DHCP server, to provide the provisoning URL.

I suggest this step is added to the instructions provided by 3CX.

This step is not necessary, we can successfully provision a T42G as LAN/STUN/SBC without option 66 when using the new firmware we released, v29.83.0.145

You can start a new thread if you want to troubleshoot further, under IP Phones > Yealink

Thanks for the prompt reply.

As I said, I followed the instructions and it would not auto-provision until DHCP option 66 was specified on the DHCP server.

We have version 18 U5 with yealink T46G in the environment. Do we need to update the firmware manually before going to U6? How about the SNOM
PA1’s? We’ve been going to the T54 with new phones going forward.

Hi,

- If the PBX and phones are on the same Local LAN, you will be fine. The upgrade can be done from your management console in U6.

- If the phones are remote (ie. SBC / STUN) you will have to manually upgrade them first.

- The PA1 has no upgrades, it has reached EOL. If it works currently, it will continue to work just fine. But in case you factory reset it in the future, you will have to configure the SIP account on it manually. Here is handy guide in case you need it in the future https://www.3cx.com/sip-phones/snom-pa1/

- The T54W is an excellent choice, and from Update 6 onwards can also take advantage of the built-in SBC (in case you have remote phones that is).
