In recent 3CX updates, you’ll have noticed several changes regarding IP Phones. These were necessary to strengthen system security and simplify the configuration process. Let’s break them down one by one.

IP Phones Added Back to Supported

Some supported IP Phones were marked by vendors as EOL. With no new firmware, these models were unable to keep up with the security updates implemented in Update 5 and were removed from the product.

You’ll be happy to hear that with Update 6 some of them are back to being supported! These phones are fully functional and can be configured both locally and remotely.

But be warned…! If you have them, use them. If you don’t - do not buy these phones new or used. They won’t receive any new firmware updates and in the case of a vulnerability, they’ll be removed.

Yealink T27P, T29G and Yealink T41P, T42G, T46G, T48G

Yealink T4 End of Life models

In Update 6 Alpha, and following a lot of negotiations and discussions, Yealink released new firmwares for Yealink T29G, T46G and T48G to be securely provisioned with 3CX once again!

Even better, the list got richer! With Update 6 final, Yealink has released additional firmware for Yealink T41P and T42G.

Make sure you update to the latest firmware version before configuring the phones!

Follow our guide on how to manually upgrade your Yealink firmware.

Important: Yealink T27P is also back, but since Yealink did not provide us with new firmware it can only be configured locally (LAN).

Snom D120, D305, D375, D745, 710, 720, 760

Yes! These EOL Snom SIP Phones are also back and can be configured via 3CX. Make sure you update to the latest supported firmware before configuring them! Restrictions may apply.

EOL IP Handsets That Can ONLY Be Manually Configured

Despite trying to bring as many EOL IP Phones as possible back to being supported, the truth is that some very old IP handsets cannot be securely provisioned with 3CX.

Fear not! We know a lot of you are still using these phones. That’s why we’ve updated our guides so you can manually provision them by specifying a registrar/SBC IP and AUTH ID via the phone’s web interface.

Do not attempt to buy a phone this old; this solution is ONLY for existing users.

New Firmware Releases

You’ll know by now, firmware updates are important for the smooth operation of your system. You’ll also know 3CX always tests the latest firmware releases with each 3CX version before pushing them to you.

Snom has released a new firmware number v10.1.141.10 for the following models:

This firmware release includes bug fixes and support for newer hardware revisions. Users with valid maintenance can upgrade to the latest firmware directly from 3CX. Otherwise, follow our guide on how to manually upgrade your Snom firmware.

Yealink has also released another special firmware only for BeNeLux customers. The Lydis firmware is available for various T3X, T4X and T5X Yealink phones. Visit the Lydis website to learn more.
