My predecessor setup our 3CX server running v15.5 that is currently on a Windows VM. Considering the process to upgrade from v15.5 to v16 requires a re installation. I would like to this opportunity to move 3CX to a Linux VM.

If I make a backup of the 3CX on the current Windows VM can I use that backup to restore to when I install 3CX v16 on the new Linux VM? Or will the backup only restore on another Windows System?

Also how will my license key react when i change systems?

Thanks.

The backups are OS agnostic. And provided you shutdown the Windows VM before restoring on the Linux VM you should be fine on the license side of things.
