Hi everyone,

I’m currently deploying a POC 3CX V20 U3 beta system as part of the upgrade planning for a large V18 deployment update. During this preparatory phase, I’m exploring the voicemail transcription feature, and I noticed that you have to select a single language for transcription during setup.

I have a few questions around this:

  • Is it possible to configure 3CX to automatically transcribe voicemail audio in multiple languages, based on the caller’s language or mailbox settings?
  • Alternatively, can the transcription language be manually adjusted on a per-mailbox or user basis, or are we restricted to one default language for the entire system?
The use case involves a single 3CX instance with offices spread across Europe. The primary languages in use are Dutch, French, German, and English, and it would be very beneficial if transcription could adapt to the department or user’s configured language.

Has anyone set up something similar or have any insights on how to achieve this?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Set it to whatever language you want for the texts to be in, and leave it there. The AI can transcribe many languages even in one conversation. We get calls in both English and French, we set the language to English, so we get our French calls transcribed in English lol

Thanks for your response and clarification. It would definitely be a great feature if the transcription language could change based on the department's default language, assuming that language is supported, of course.

What’s your take on having the option for dynamic transcription output based on the user's department? It seems like this could add a lot of value for multi-country customers.

I've been working with OpenAI for some time now. I've already written a tool that helps our support team work with customers in other languages (we are in over 100 countries). The application allows our team to type text in one language and automatically translate the text to many different languages. So, if you need the transcription in a different language, we can help.
