Hello,
I am preparing for a new campus being added to our school, another physical location down the street. We will be migrating 3CX to their hosted solution (currently hosted on-premises) and I would like to use the same phone number for all outbound calls from both campuses. I will be deploying an SBC at both locations. With these details I am wondering about e911, how do we setup the outbound dialing so that the dispatcher receives the correct address for whom is dialing 911 from either location? Is that possible?

you can setup 911 calls from a group of extensions to go out with a different CID

Good point! I understand the logic of the outbound rule to 911, and tag on an "extension group". I am guessing the 2nd portion of CID would be to use a different DID for each of the two groups, and program that DID to have the correct addresses. Am I on track?

Most SIP trunks do the 911 location based on the CallerID of the calling party. So for extensions in building 1, you set the outbound CID for 911 to the CID registered with location 1's address, etc.

This CID will only apply for 911 calls so your normal calls will continue with whatever CID you want.

I appreciate you taking the time to help me with this. If I follow, then I believe your suggestion will work by me creating a 2nd outbound rule to 911, where the "calls from extension group" are those extensions in the new campus, and the CID is a DID that I modify with Flow Route to have the new address.
Everything else would match the original 911 outbound rule where the CID & address is the original campus.

This is Solved.

FYI - you don't need to do it in Outbound rules. In Settings -> General is a dedicated Emergency Numbers section that you should use.

Number in this section are treated as emergencies and will allow notifications and more.

Oh dang! That's great, thank you again very much! I just got to that pre-recorded webinar with 3CX as I'm going through their training, again I'm an Avaya background so it's quite different between the two. I just reviewed that section and it makes perfect sense. Attach the originating calling group, destination number (911) and CID to use. Viola! I love it! You are awesome!

Happy to help. As someone who has been dealing with Avaya IP Office for last 15 years, almost everything it can do 3CX can do but easier.

I will note that some exceptions do apply to very specific use case though, so I urge full use case testing before you switch over. An example would be Hunt Groups that gradually add members - all 3CX can do to mimic this is skill groups but that doesn't work the same way. Reporting and Addons are another sore point depending on what you are doing.

Best of luck in your roll out and feel free to post any other questions.

That's very kind of you, thank you again for the great help! I totally agree thus far in finding that 3CX is FAR easier to comprehend & manage than Avaya. Not dissing Avaya, they have a good enterprise system, but for a beginner never having used Avaya before, well IP Office & VM PRo can be overwhelming. Their forums are not NEARLY as helpful as I have found here with 3CX. We did a lot of live reporting & monitoring with many scheduled detailed reports as well and Avaya did that well. But thank God that here at the school we have not had the need for call recording or much reporting. I am planning on setting up recording as I find it very helpful, but probably will only ever need basic reporting (total number of calls, peak call times, duration average of calls, most active extensions, etc.).

Cheers to you and happy hump day!
