Now available in Beta with BLF and TAPI Support.

If you’ve been following our V20 journey, you will recall that we’ve been working on a new native 3CX Windows softphone. The new softphone is similar to the iOS and Android apps in terms of functionality, and runs in conjunction with the web client. It also comes equipped wit...

Good to see improvements!
Still have some issues in the latest release (20.0.261.0) of the windows app. I am also running the V20 preview as the server(Version: 20.0 Update 0 (Build 827)).

- "Phonebook display" not looking at the server configuration. Currently always using Last Name, First Name.
- Clicking on the maximize button on of the window does nothing and now it will always shows blue.
- No option to resize the window. (it looks like it is made for a touchscreen or tablet).

I really like that the microphone autogain function is not in this application. See this POST about my issue.

@Wesley | Ruijs IT thanks for your feedback.

1. Re: server configuration we are currently working on improving and making the softphone feature complete. More updates to come.

2. And 3. The Softphone is meant to be used in its current screen configuration.

I think this looks good, however as someone that is still hanging on to the v16 windows app I would really like to be able to break out the Team screen to a new window, much like the Switchboard feature on the v16 app. We are only 50 users but scrolling through this to see who is available in a department is not fun.

Also, and this is the only reason that we haven't moved on to the Web/PWA/Desktop app, can you bring back the option to group by user group? I want to see who is available in each department at a glance rather than having to select each group in turn from the drop down (also not available in this app).

Finally, is this softphone only? are there any plans for CTI integration with the desk phone?

I like the look and feel of the app but can't at the moment see the advantage over the Web/PWA.

I suppose, it stays open when the browser is not started or closed. The goal seems to be to also have the web client open...maybe not for everyone, per se, but we heavily use chat in our office, so would need both. And then to your point why run two.

The CTI integration is from the web client to this softphone, so the web client controls this phone.

@ThomB_3CX Is there a purpose for the left-arrow in the upper left? I thought maybe that was to show the BLF panel like the Desktop App dialer but the BLF is always visible and on the right...

@SteveITS thanks for your feedback

Left Arrow in the top left corner is used to back out of certain screens. An example of this is when you go to Contact List and open a contact card. The button is then enabled for you to back out to the contact. This button will be more useful when we start adding more features to the softphone.

You may also notice another button with an arrow on the right next to the BLF panel. That button is used to keep the app on top of other applications.

BLF panel is always visible. To remove it from view, you need to click on Settings and uncheck the BLF feature

Looks promising.
Do you consider to add a speaker button to quickly switch over?
Always missed this in the Windows Clients and think it is a disadvantage over an desk phone or mobile app.

Just a quick question, forgive me if it's answered in any documentation: which protocol does the new softphone employ? 3CX tunnel?

Nice,
Message transcription in Voicemail are on the roadmap ?

Just downloaded and installed the new windows app for testing. There are a few pretty signifcant concerns I have within the first minute of using it which also forced me to immediately uninstall.

-The window is not resizeable. This is a major fail.
-Chat has been moved to within the ellipses menu which is another fail especially for those of us who use chat more than any other feature
-Clicking chat opens the web client. Why are we forced back to the web client from the Windows client? Please pick a path and stay on that path. This Web client --> Windows --> Web workflow and recommended app is a mess. Many of us prefer native windows apps over a web application.

-One feature recommendation that is lacking from Chat still is the ability to reply to specific messages in the chat. This is a pretty typical feature of many other chat applications that really needs to be implemented.

When has it gone? This function is actually present, isn't it?

I'd subscribe all of your points.
Maybe at least the the 'forward to the webclient' on some functions and maybe the resize thing is just because it's still work in progress.

> resize

I think that is intentional, since it's only the voice functionality. Similar to the old v16 Windows client or the mobile apps. In other words the dial pad doesn't need to be bigger... But as I noted above, if using the web client for chat, why have this open also. I guess, the primary advantage is that one doesn't need to find the right browser tab to answer a call.

I don't see a separate choice for "ringer" sound...guessing it only uses the Windows default for that since the voice audio is handled by the Speaker setting.

I see that now; it is disabled until I am on a page that can go back like that. Would it be a bit clearer to hide the arrow until the user is on one of those pages? It's not super clear the arrow is disabled until I saw a page where it was not disabled and it becomes a bit darker.

I tried it but as Webmeetings are being used widely it is not useable at all due to lack of integration. Or did I miss something?

In general I love the auto update through Microsoft store. That's a big plus.

Yes, but actually the transcription did not appear in the new softphone.

@SteveITS thanks for your feedback. Currently with the .NET framework in use, the framework has a bug which does not allow us to remove the back button when not in use. There are ways of fixing it, but requires hacks. We are hoping when we update to the newer .NET version, this can be handled directly

@assvas @Si_PEarson_LPC CTI integration is a deprecated tech. We will take your feedback into consideration though and look into modern ways of implementations.
