We published today 18.6.1.535 Beta on TestFlight - it is "Update 6 ready", so when U6 will be out (very soon) you can check also the case you described above.
I checked the work according to your scheme - yes, it works that way. but this behavior is not expected. the message is considered delivered not when the user opens the application, but when it arrives. The push message contains text, which means it is considered delivered upon the arrival of the push. In other systems (whatsapp and telegram), "delivered" is displayed immediately after the push arrives, without waiting for the application to open.@paurus
Just tried now and seems to work as expected:
- receiver (iOS client) is not running
- sender send a message - get one gray, correct, message not delivered
- receiver is launched - sender's gray become blue, correct, message has been delivered
- receiver opens the chat with sender - sender get two blue, correct, message has been delivered and read
