I'm still working on setup of my environment for a deployment later this summer. While cleaning up a couple test extensions getting the trunk setup, I think I deleted my system owner. Right now, I am the own user on the instance and have "Owner" role, not "System Owner." What can I do to resolve this, or should I just delete/reinitialize the system and take it as a rough lesson learned?

Thanks for any advice!

Did you try logging in as the system owner? Roles can’t necessarily see/modify higher level users. If you try to create another with the same extension number it will fail if it exists.

Do you have a backup?

Hello @mattwarner,

In the installation, you must at least have one System Owner extension. When you try to delete that extension from the Admin Console, you will get an error and the extension will not be deleted.
The first extension configured as System Owner is under the License Owner email address ( Registration Email ).
Have you tried using the credentials of the License Owner?

No backup - we're fully hosted and I'm still working on setup.

I tried logging in as the license owner. That email doesn't log in, and I never received a reset link when I attempted the reset-password process.

Are you using a 3CX Email Server configured on the PBX or M365/Google/Custom SMTP?
If you are not using 3CX, then it is advised to check your SMTP server if it is blocking emails from the PBX.

If this is not the case, then I would suggest to either open a ticket to our Technical Support Team via your Customer Portal or stop the current installation and then proceed with reinstalling the PBX as a new installation and reconfiguring it.

Since I cannot log in with the system owner role, I don't have any way of verifying. I'll just delete and re-create the system. The only real bummer is my own number is the one I was porting so I'll lose my own short message history. More inconvenience than tragedy - a relatively cheap price to pay to learn a lesson, I suppose.
