Hi,

I am quite confused about when our extensions are registered and when they aren't.
If I only use web logins and calling, when I shut down the web page, my extension goes into not registered.
When my colleague's extension was logged in the mobile app, and he turned off his cellular and wifi, he was still registered. When we tried calling him, the call was ringing, but he was not registered anywhere. After the call his extension went to not registered status.

To add to this, I have the feeling that a few days ago, this was working as we expect. If an extension does not have any active endpoints (web, mobile app, etc.), the extension was not registered.

Am I expecting something else? Should it work somehow else? Did something maybe change in the last few days? Please let me know if you experience this.

Thank you

Hello Miro Jombik,

For as far I do understand, it is all about the 'nice' shutdown or not.

Example, you plug in an IP phone and check it is registered, than remove the power/POE cable and you will find the phone will still be registered, for as long as the timeut does not expire versus give the IP phone an reboot command, and you will notice that the IP phone will deregister and later register back again.
Not tested, but would expect this to be the same from a smaprtphone APP, not shutting down or logging off, but just go into airplaine mode leaving the connection alive until timeout.
Would that make sense, and/or can you test this?

My understanding (and this may have changed a bit in recent versions), is that to save mobile battery life the mobile app is not registered in the same way a standard SIP device is. It is assumed to be registered. A Push message is sent, and if there is no response, then call will route elsewhere.

Hello all,

@leejor is basically correct.

PUSH essentially counts as a "device" on its own, and that remains active - that also happens with the web client which also supports PUSH; if you simply close the browser without logging out, that extension would still be in Active state.
