We are running the talest 3CX (15.5.15502.6), originally installed on Debian 8. As from the latest update, we see the notification about OS Upgrade and a button to actually perform it:

3CX detected a new Debian OS Upgrade - Debian 9. Click Upgrade to proceed:

Questions:
  1. Do we HAVE to upgrade?
  2. Does it really work this way? There is a bigger guide on upgrading, but here is just a button?
  3. Can we switch this notification OFF?
  4. Can we switch OS upgrade detection OFF?
There are quite a few differences in Deb9 vs Deb8 behaviour, so I'd rather refrain from updating. What do you think?

Thank you!

Hello @systola

Do we HAVE to upgrade?
I would say yes as the latest service pack was build on Debian 9 and Debian 8 is no longer supported. Also future releases will not be tested on Debian 8.

If you used the 3CX iso to install the system it should work just with the click of the button. More details below:

No, currently you cannot.

Thank you so much for the reply.

We used an OVH-provided online image and apt to install the PBX, shall I assume it applies here, too?

If you used the OVH image then do not attempt to upgrade the OS with through the management console. You will need to manually upgrade it as @complex1 did in the provided thread.

Thank you.

Glad i could help. Let us know if you face any issues with the upgrade.

Sounds like 3CX should change that button. It should allow for one-click upgrade if the 3CX ISO was used but otherwise only detect and recommend you manually upgrade for manual installs unless both scenarios have been tested by 3CX.
