Solved outbound rule - is "+" prefix considered a number that can be stripped out?

Hi,

I'm experiencing a very weird behaviour (to me) when defining outbound rules using "+" prefix.

I defined an outbound rule,
"Calls to numbers starting with prefix" 5,
Route 1, route it to a test-trunk, strip of 1 digit.
This works as expected.
51000 gets the correct response (reports time in the test-trunk)

I now define another outbound rule, exactly the same as above, but replaced 5 with "+".
Now it behaves kind of weird.
It says "route not registered".
I do have a 1000 extension inside my PBX that's not registered.

But why is the 3CX client treating "+" as a call to my local extension instead of going out through the "+" outbound rule?

Perhaps the outbound rules do not actually match the digits dialed. Have a look at the 3CX Activity log (Verbose level).

I activated Verbose level in the log and I saw this line:
11/13/2022 5:26:24 PM - Terminated from "kenneth lee"<sip:[email protected]>;tag=oKBhlR5wWPirEDTXJZNu6ef9ewY4Q3-. to <sip:[email protected];tag3cx=344capl.>;tag=0036572d; reason: Rejected

Looks like the "+" sign in the SIP address is not a valid URI format. The rule that makes of 5... was recognised and there were a lot of activity after that.

I have to assume that you have no outbound rule that matches +1000.

I have one rule that should match +1000 but it's not recognised.


I have another rule that looks exactly just like above except that I replaced the "+" with a "5".
When I dial 51000, that outbound rule gets picked, call gets routed to trunk freeshell-leewm correctly.

I currently dial "5 ctry-code phone-number" to make international calls through my freeshell-leewm trunk.
What I would like to do is to dial "+ctry-code phone-number" to make international calls.

In my phone directory, all my overseas contact numbers start with a "+" so that using the normal cellular line works. When I use the 3CX app, I would also like to be able to use the same number format so that I don't need to keep another set of phone numbers.

Was mucking around with microphone selection settings on the 3CX PC app and came across the + mapping.
I mapped the + to 5 and everything works now .... on the 3CX PC app.
But that + mapping option is not available on the 3CX iPhone app.

Hi @k.lee

Do you have this issue with all numbers dialled with a "+" or only with the 1000 number?
There should be no issues using "+" to match an outbound rule and strip it. I have numerous rules using "+" and all work fine.
How may outbound rules do you have? Could you be matching something else first? Place the rule with the "+" on the top and try again.
Also navigate to your management console settings / E164 Processing and disable it. That could be reformatting the numbers causing them not to match your outbound rule.

it's with all numbers.
i've tried moving the "+" outbound rule to the very top, still have the same issue.

but when i tried disabling E164 processing in settings/advanced/e164 processing, everything WORKS!
it was set as singapore, convert + to 001.
