System specs
PBX Version: 18u6
Self-Hosted
SIP Trunk: bandwidth

Issue:
I previsouly had all users enabled for SMS outbound using the main DID and a single user for inbound.
In the Web client I am forwarding the SMS to the single extension as a destination, but none of the other users can't send SMS. it is not showing the option for it.
I thought with 18u6 all users had by default SMS outbound enabled.

What I have done:
I did reconfigure the SMS trunk at the PBX level and Bandwidth.
I made sure that the DID is not assignt at the User level to a specific extension.
If I create a Queue or Ring group with all the users and, I add that on the call handling option the SMS option shows up. The issue all the users get the incoming SMS.

Expected work:
all SMS have a single extension as a destination.
All extension being able to send SMS with the main DID.

Thank you,

Thank you @Nick Galea, I did follow that documentation when troubleshooting the issue but that wasnt quite the problem.

I finally ended up getting the system working as desired.

for my situation some of the information on the guide is missleading
  • If you are a “System Owner” or a “System Admin” you can select to use the Groups routing options from the “SIP Trunks” configuration settings
That option currently is under "Office hours", then you need to assign the DID in the group in order to allow all the users be able to send SMS. Which bring to the other note,
  • SMS routing is handled the same way voice routing is. This means that SMS is now enabled by default for all users; you no longer need to enable it per individual user/extension
SMS is not enabled to all usaers if the DID is not assign to the Group, RG, IVR or Queue that those users are members of.

I never thought about looking under "Office hours" to configure the call handling/flow.

@otmoya,
Do you mind clarifying how you set this up?
I'd like to set up incoming sms to go to 1 extension, but allow all users to initiate outgoing sms. So far I've only figured out to add all users to a Call Queue, and direct incoming sms to that Queue. This allows all users to send, but also means the entire Queue gets any incoming messages. Not ideal!
Any help/guidance would be appreciated.

If you do it from the management console go to inbound rules, click the DID that you want all users to be able to send SMS. Then on the route calls, change the option to “send calls to a groups”.

From the webclient portal, make sure you log in with an admin user. Then, go to the admin section, click on “office hours”, select the group that you want to work on, then assign the DID code hat you want that group to use.

I hope this help, let me know if you need some more help.
