I have the out of office hours setup for external number however when a call comes in it constantly attempts routes and fails to my Voip failover. Even when i tried to have a particular number sent external it fails

You will get more information, as to why it is failing by checking the 3CX Activity Log. My first guess would be an outbound rule issue, but the log will confirm.

Can you call the external number from a extension.

On your outbound rule, you may have to remove some restrictions as the system will dial the number using a system account which you can not program directly into the outbound rules.

Create a outbound rule, use the number as a prefix only

I only have rules that meet the number of digits and the extension group which all the phones are in

I changed the system to out of office will dial an extension which has a forwarding rule. I tested it by calling that extension and it forwarded right out. That should not be the case if I wanted to use the SIP trunk out of office rule. It fails over to my VOIP failover from my SIP provider

As per previous post, the system is using a system account to dial the number as you are using Office Hours.

As you have restricted outbound to extension groups, you need to remove the extension group

I got rid of the default group. You think that is the system account? That is true. Only the extension group has trunks assigned. How do I go about reassigning the system trunks?

Reassigning? If you removed the extension group restriction then the only thing left to match is the number formatting.

Call me a newbie but I must be missing something. I moved from free pbx where I didn’t really need this extra security assignments. Can you break it down or post some pics

If the forwarding is working correctly when testing from an internal extension, but fails when an outside call is forwarded, then i suspect that it is a caller ID issue. You are probably attempting to send the originators caller ID, which your provider has an issue with. The Activity Log will show the call being rejected, if this is the case.

Look at one of the call attempts in the Activity Log (not the call log), this will save you the time of guessing what is happening. If you are not clear on what the log is telling you, then please attach it to a post.

When the office was open i made an inbound rule to a temp number to 1 extension that would forward out to my cellphone. It worked. So i changed it to the receptionist number and figure that once the office hours closes and tell it to forward to ext 0001 that it would work. Its failing. This is why im having trouble understanding.

Okay so when i add an outbound route for EXT 0001 it went without a hitch. When i went back and told the inbound route to forward to the number it failed over. What am i missing?
