Paging Recommendation

We have a potential phone system customer with some specific paging needs. They would like overhead speakers in several classrooms that can be zoned together while also being able to page them individually. An analog system will not work for this I am assuming.
Also, the would like the ability to speak to people at their front door AND to unlock the door from the phone system. Any ideas?

For paging to tanoy I would not recommend removing the analogue speakers and putting in a SIP supported speaker like an Algo: http://www.algosolutions.com/products/speakers/8180.html

Conversion maybe possible with an FXS >> IP gateway however I think its best to play it safe and go all IP.

It is possible to add multiple PA speakers and either add them to a paging group or call them individually ie the PA2 or iW30 https://www.3cx.com/sip-phones/fanvil-sip-doorphones/

As for the door, you can use a doorphone like the i30 for example which has a relay to open a door as well as a camera that you can view on your receptionist's webclient https://www.3cx.com/sip-phones/fanvil-sip-doorphones/

Not sure exactly what you mean by an analog system. If you already have speakers in place tied to a paging amplifier then yes you can put something in like a Cyberdata paging server and setup zones for paging.

What you are describing is intercom for the classrooms. You would need 1 SIP speaker that has a microphone for each classroom that supports multicast. I would configure the speakers with separate multicast addresses for each zone and then one address for each zone. (note your speaker will have to be able to listen to multiple multicast addresses. You could also use separate page groups in 3CX for "zones". Also if you are going to use these same speakers for school bell chimes you will need to take that in to consideration as well. School paging is unique because it isn't a typical paging system because they all desire the talk back function.
