We just noticed that some of our Perpetual licenses are automatically getting converted to annual subscription without we doing any trade-ins. We are happy with expired maintenance or support. Can 3CX explain what's going on?

Thanks

It seems pretty obvious what's going on. There were several emails sent out to both customers and partners explaining this (not sure which category you fall under). The short version is there are no more version upgrades (what you would pay when you let your maintenance lapse beyond the grace period) so once that happens it reverts to the free license which is annual only.

We did not get any email explaining this and we were on Perpetual licenses which we paid for. So if we decide not to renew the maintenance, we should be staying on the same version without any updates. We manage our own SSL, SMTP, Firmwares, Templates etc. How can they convert a fully paid Perpetual license into subscription?

Did you upgrade? My recollection is that if your maintenance expires and you don't do any upgrades it should stay that way but the moment you upgrade it is an automatic conversion. I don't really know for sure as we keep all of our instances up to date. We still have a customer on v12.5 but they have current maintenance for when they eventually upgrade.

Thanks,

No, we did not upgrade. We were on Version 16 when the maintenance was expired.

Hmm, not sure then. Perhaps @JohnS_3CX can answer more definitively
