Hi,
I have a couple phone template updates.
12544
For the Yealink T27G phone, my installed version is 88610 which is 69.84.0.35.
12545
Before I download the update, I want to know what the OEM version is of the online version 91548 so I can check what was added/changed.
How do I find out what the OEM firmware version(s) are included online version 91548?
or
How do I find what changed between installed version 88608 and online version 91548?
Thank you,

Template versions and firmware versions are two separate things and are mostly unrelated. Sometimes there are changes in the templates designed to work with a specific firmware but that has nothing to do with what you are asking for. There is no OEM version of the template.

cobaltit,
Thank you for your reply. My questions were jumbled and not clear. I will rephrase and try to better job.

The download 88608 included firmware 69.84.0.35 and a supporting phone template. After the download, all my Yealink T27G and T47S firmware were out of date. I am not using a custom template. I understand that updating the firmware triggers phone re-provisioning. When the new phone firmware was updated and phone re-provisioned, users who had manually changed settings via the phone's UI had lost their settings. I would like to know if the firmware version changed and what changes were made to the phone template before I download the update. I want to be better prepared for all the complaints caused by updating/re-provisioning the phones.

How do I find what firmware version is included in 91548?
How do I find what changes where made, if any, to the phone template?

Thank you,

Again, the firmware and the template are not related. In this particular case there was an update to both, but many times there are updated templates with no firmware update, or less likely but still possible, a firmware download with no template update. The specific config block in the template regarding firmware looks like this:

Code:
{IF network=LOCALLAN}
firmware.url = %%PROVLINKLOCAL%%/firmware/yealink/%%firmware%%
{ELSE}
firmware.url = %%PROVLINK%%/firmware/yealink/%%firmware%%
{ENDIF}

So there is no firmware included with the template. The template refers to the latest firmware downloaded in 3CX.

As far as the changes go, you have to manually compare the old and new template files.

And to your issue, any manual changes to the phone that conflict with provisioned settings will be erased on a reprovision, new template/firmware download or not. And settings changed that do not existing in the template (such as a second SIP account) will typically persist.

This is a followup for anyone interested in what I found different in the 91548 update.
I downloaded the 91548 update. My local Yealink firmware, 66.84.0.35, did not change. I did a file compare between the yealinkT4X.ph.xml template file of the 88608 and 91548. The main difference is that support was added for T53, T53W, T54W, T57W, T41U, T43U, T46U, T48U. There were some minor typo fixes. I found no changes to T27G or T46S. There may be changes to other yealink template files but I was only interested in the yealinkT4X.ph.xml file because that is where my phones are stored.

It would be nice if there was a published log of changes.

Thank you,
You can set this thread as solved.

More:
As I mentioned previously. I downloaded the 91548 update on a Friday. I thought that because there were no changes to the T27G and T46S that I was safe and my phones would not re-provision. The following Monday morning, I was flooded with emails asking 'where did all my BLF keys go?'. I did not know that the phone template sets
auto_provision.mode = 1 (enables the phone to re-provision upon power up or reboot)
auto_provision.repeat.enable = 1 (enables the phone to auto re-provision every below repeat.minutes)
auto_provision.repeat.minutes = 1440 (every 24 hours)
auto_provision.custom.protect = 0 (disables the phone to protect personalized configuration settings even after auto provisioning)
My users lost any BLF keys (and some other settings) which they had set by the phone's setup menu. The settings/BLF keys were overwritten by setting(s) set in 3CX extensions. Sometime in the past, I had told my people that they may lose their settings, but most had forgotten (or didn't understand) which didn't make it any less painful.
I have since changed the template to
auto_provision.mode = 0
auto_provision.repeat.enable = 0
auto_provision.custom.protect = 1
The lesson learned was that since something did change in the template that the phones will re-provision, even though none of the changes where related to the phones. And that the phones themselves will check for re-provision every 24 hours unless you turn the settings off in both the phone and the template.

I hope this helps someone avoid the lesson I learned!
Thank you,

Hi @jakthree

By default we reprovision phones daily so they are always up to date with the system.

We recommend that you use the extension BLF tab to set your BLF's, Speedials, Custom Speedials etc so they are guaranteed to be there no matter how many times the phone reprovisions.

We allow the user to set their own if they want via the webclient (so they they don't have to bother the admin all the time). The general idea is to allow the PBX to do it for you so the settings are stored centrally, and restored centrally in case the phone is reset, reprovisioned, replaced etc.

You can create custom templates if you want to change our default behavior of course, but you will have to reprovision your phones manually whenever you make any changes on the PBX (i.e if you change the login credentials without reprovisioning, the phone will be blacklisted for wrong registration)
