Hi All. I am new to 3CX and I have a question. We are currently using a (non-3CX) hosted PBX service. To test 3CX, I have managed to provision 3CX to a Fanvil X6 IP Phone & one 3CX app which would allow me to make extension calls. Can I add the hosted PBX line into the Fanvil so that I may make external calls? Hope my questions make sense. Thanks

If the set allows registration to multiple servers, and you either modify the template (adding the additional line), and upload the settings to the set, or, you modify the set manually (GUI menu), and prevent 3CX from over-writing, then.... yes.

Think of it in terms of trunks, your trunk (the real number where people can call you) is on the 3rd party service.

If you create this trunk on 3CX then you can skip that service entirely and now the 3CX system will control your external number directly.

If you cannot skip that, then your can register your 3CX system on the 3rd party system as an extension (by creating a generic trunk in 3CX). From there, any calls that 3CX extensions make, will be made through the other system. This is not ideal however, we recommend using one of our supported providers, which we test and ensure they work correctly with our system.

Hi All

Thanks leejor and JohnS-3CX for your fast responses.

Perhaps let me clarify my situation.

Currently, my company is subscribed to hosted IP PBX with 10 DDI (with 5 real numbers where people can call us). We are currently using IP phones in the office.

We have started to test the 3CX system using a raspberry. The 3CX is wonderful as it allows us to make extension calls without barriers (i.e. inside and outside office).

We would like to integrate both the CX3 extensions and hosted IP PBX "real numbers" into the IP phones & 3CX app. This way, we may fully use the features of 3CX. For example, we would like to be able to can transfer an outside calls to our "real number" to another 3CX extension which may or may not have a "real number". Another feature that would be goo to have is the contact - where we would be able to see (as per data in our contacts) the name of the outside call to our "real number".

I hope this clarify things & would gladly hope for a solution.

JohnS-3CX - I was told that you are referring to SIP trunks. Pls correct me if I am wrong.

You won't be able to transfer calls, between the two systems, unless the "hosted IP PBX" is actually routed through 3CX, even if the numbers appear on the same set as the 3CX extensions. As has been suggested, you might look at bringing the hosted PBX extensions, into 3CX, as trunks. That would allow integration between the two.

Yes, I was referring to SIP trunks which are the basis for 3CX to make external calls.

I think it should be possible to port your existing real numbers to a SIP trunk provider (like the ones I linked earlier).

That SIP trunk can then be registered directly in 3CX and you will have full control of those numbers to route calls to specific extensions groups or queues, transfers, the works..

Thanks JohnS_3CX
