All our Dedicated Free subscriptions were streamlined last week. Not only had it become a difficult administrative task to maintain so many different free offers, with StartUP FREE launched as our new free offer, the decision to streamline makes good sense.

Thanks 3CX! And it makes sense for everyone to pay for a subscription - even a small one - whenever possible, as it's often best for the end user too.

True ☺️ for small companies that cannot afford a PBX - StartUP Free is the way forward.

It's also best for us, the reseller, if a company is so small they cannot afford a small license fee for quality of the software that 3CX is then we probably don't want them as a client to be honest.

StartUP was designed to help our partner base capture this business and make small companies worth having as customers. Once it's set up and you add the SIP Trunks - you can forget about it - as we take care of everything else. The more customers you have, the bigger your footprint is in the market. Small customers will talk if they are happy with your service - they may refer you to bigger companies even.

Startup doesn't work for us, we're primarily a carrier and provide our own sip trunks, because we are only a silver reseller we cant get our trunks certified so we cant offer our service on startup. Thats a show stopper for us.

We also have no issues taking care of non start up installs as you guys have built some of the most reliable software i've ever used. The software itself is so rock solid we barely have to provide any kind of debug or maintenance unless there is an update or lightsail notifies us there is some hardware issue with the VM we have allocated to a client (thats happened a few times) and they need to restart the VM or move it, or what ever they do. The problems with smaller clients come from add's moves and changes, things like configuring an IVR, making sure their files are encoded properly, people locking themselves out of the system with password errors, teaching them how to get themselves a new welcome email, how to add a new user and a whole host of other stuff. You've made the software really user friendly but in customer land, the client running a very small business doesn't have time to learn all this stuff and even if they do learn it they rarely remember it next time it pops up as they are busy focusing on their small business and not being their own phone tech.

On top of that though, the rats and mice clients are almost always much hard to deal with, they're either a start up that wants everything free, including all their IT services, their calls, any support you provide and software, or they're just looking to beat you down on everything they possibly can to save every cent they can. We still take them on, we never turn a client away but thats consistently been our experience. You're millage may differ but after 11 years of selling exclusively to business, that's been our experience. The bigger the company, the better they are to deal with all round.

Everyone is welcome to use 3CX, however it's essential for partners to manage these people's expectations. Have clear guidelines of what is and what is not included in their package. We emphasise that our pricing includes only the subscription - partners will charge for their time/ support/ services. They are not offered for free. Otherwise you as a partner will indeed spend too much time assisting these people, which won't help build your business in the long-run.

We also make our charges very clear, we are a telco and in Australia telco's are regulated pretty tightly, we have a whole set of strict rules we must follow or we'll be hit with heavy fines, this ranges for uptimes, to sales tactics, debit recovery and compensation for down time, just to name a few. In Australia the consumer even has a dedicated govt body called the Telecommunications Industry Ombudsman who advocates on behalf of consumers and the Telco has to pay the fee for on behalf of the consumer making the complaint, this body can make rulings that are binding, financial rulings. Fees can reach upwards of $50k.

So with all that said, we 100% make our fees and charges very clear.

The main reason we switched to selling 3CX from previous sold/supported products was how easy it is to use for our clients, packed with features but just so well laid out, it has really cut down on our admin work for clients which has been great for us but also great for clients, the previous multi-tenant system we offered (and is still kicking on, some clients just refuse to see the light and move to 3CX) was powerful but just so confusing for clients. 3CX is everything that isn't, just better in every way.

Anyway, I'm side tracking the thread here so I'll stop.

FYI, your team fixed all the licenses I sent off last night so happy clients as of today :) Thank you.

My point here is that customers who have subscriptions registered correctly still have the information in their dashboard showing maintenance and license are expiring on 06/30/2023. What Should they do to get the offer honored?

I have the same question

@RJansen @Ubiratan Martins You are right, we still need to run the script for keys assigned to partners. We need to reach out to some partners yet who are way over the limit and come to a fair solution.

If you have each key correctly registered with a proper email of the customer, you are good and we will be running the script to extend until end of 23 in the coming weeks.

Sorry about the miscommunication

Hurray, as resellers it will be easier for us to deal with paid licence for 3CX. I was used to install paid licence since year 2013 or 2014 but it became difficult when 3CX started to offer free licences to justify to customers that they have to pay for a pro licence as the standard licence just cover their need.
Now our sales representatives have just to explain, that the free service wil become a paid one ;-)

Will there be any solution for the partners who immediately upgraded the keys to the commercial one when the previous first-year free 4SC PRO/ENT offer was changed to the 4SC Standard last weekend? These keys are in the production environment and the partners can not wait and have to deal with this situation immediately.

Since most of the previous free 4SC PRO/ENT keys would be expired this June/July, when the partners upgraded them to commercial ones, their expiration date changed to March 2024. It changes the conditions stated in the contract that was signed with the end customer. So at least, will there be a solution for the partner to only pay for the remaining months of this year and keep the expiration date as it stated in the contract? Then the customer renews this subscription with the partner with the correct date.

Hope 3CX can think about this situation. Thanks

I am a student running a free license since last March 2022.
I am learning 3cx on it, and hoping one day I can sell the idea
to the university I work part-time for.
My license expires 3/31/2023, and I keep getting notices about the
expiration..
I read that free systems like this will be extended through end of June 2023, and
possibly to end of Dec 2024, if registration is in my name ( which it is ).

Could I get a clarification on this? Also, recently I added a Twilio SIP trunk.
If I end up having to go to a StartUp system, will I have to drop this and get a 3cx approved SIp trunk provider?

Thank you for any help on this...

Hi Phil

As you have a 3CX hosted system we have not extend those.
Your key on expiration would be extended to 31 December 2023 (and eventually to 2024), however the free hosting period and the machine would be parked.

Your options would be :
1. Take a back-up and re-install your free key locally
2. Move to startup (Yes you would need to drop Twilio in this case, only supported SIP trunks can be used)

AndreasA, thank you. 2 more questions...

There is a link in the customer portal to renew my current license for US $150.
Is that also an option? I assume this would keep things as they are...

I currently have 5 SIP phones which are using an SBC I installed
in Linux on a separate PC.

Will StartUp support this arrangement?

I just do not want to lose any essential functions if I move to StartUp.

Thank you, sir...

Hello

Well paying is actually the easiest option! As you said, this will keep the things as they are!
Sorry for not mentioning it, as I assume a student would not be willing to spent money for this.

The purpose that we made the StartUp is to cater for small installations with up to 10-20 Extensions.
So it should be a perfect fit for you arrangements!

Now whether you want to test the startup or just pay for your existing installation is up to you to decide!

With all the license changes and shuffling, @Nick Galea Can we please get 32 sim applied to conference calls for enterprise licenses? As an example internally and some clients like to have weekly meetings but to purchase a 16 sim or 32 sim for a single weekly conference is a waste rather allow conference calls to exceed the sim limit to lets say 2x the regular limit. we started using teams and some client we had to setup with vodia. I want to keep it all in 3cx.

Why don't they use the WebMeeting instead? That doesn't use SCs.
