Hi Guys

im currently on site so cant test or find out myself.

If customer's SIPs are all in use and an emergency call is made, what happens?

When you say all in-use, are you talking from a 3CX license perspective, a SIP trunk limit perspective (in the trunk settings) or SIP provider limit?

are you talk about the license limit (SC) or sip trunk channels or what a provider does?
SC, don't worry, channel count put plus one, for the provider it self, plz ask the provider

a SIP trunk perspective. I wondered if 3CX would maybe cut off a call to make the outgoing.

Will do thanks.

I don't believe so. It will let you go over SC limit by one as @StefanW mentioned (provided you have the number configured as an emergency number)

If the SIP channels are in use (ie provider allows you upto 20 calls max) then it's up to the provider to choose what they do. I would hope that they will allow emergency calls but that's something you need to confirm.

If its SIP trunk settings parameter you are referring to ( Number of SIM Calls ) then the call will not go out, but you can have a separate trunk for emergencies, this is good practice.

Just had a reply from Voiceflex who said they'd get a busy tone if all lines are in use so i'll have to work around that.

Get a separate trunk for emergencies, this is considered critical

I agree, i wasnt aware VF did this so will look at another trunk provider for a PAYG to be used as backup if VF is unavailable.

For anyone in the UK:-

If you sign up to Voipfone.co.uk and register a trunk with your 3CX, you can make emergency calls to 999 with no credit.

You do not need to top up or purchase anything, there is no ongoing cost.

Only caviet is, you must make or receive 1 call every 12 months to keep the SIP active or they close it. So, when they email to remind you, make a call to your voipfone number.

Be sure to set up the emergency contact details within the voipfone.co.uk control panel.
