Our voice mail system became disabled and would not record messages.

One of our voice mail boxes had a large number of voice mail messages, and I assume it reached the quota. We went into that voice mail box and deleted all the voice mail messages. The voice mail system stayed disabled. I found another post that indicated that the STOP_VM setting should be 0. I found that setting and changed it to 0. The voice mail system started taking messages again. I also saw a QUOTA_STOP_VM setting that was set to 1.

Should QUOTA_STOP_VM also be set to zero?

I couldn't find any documentation on STOP_VM or QUOTA_STOP_VM https://www.3cx.com/docs/parameters-table/

The settings are located at Settings->Parameters and searched for STOP_VM and found
QUOTA_STOP_VM = 1
STOP_VM = 1

I got exactly the same problem with one of my 3CX customers today....all my voicemail’s extensions turned disabled...

I changed the Stop_Vm setting to 0 by two time and It make the voicemail working for a period of time but it return by itself to 1 and the voicemails are returning in disabled state !?

Did you set some Quotas on PBX?
If so probably you need to check if it's not reached?

also do you have enough free space on HDD?

I'm going to repost my question as this thread got hijacked by groupe10

Do you have enough free memory to run services on your PBX?

Whether VM quota is set or not I believe VM will also stop if total disk space is low. I forgot if it's percentage based or a fixed amount (for some reason 500Mb is stuck in my head) but when the system has too low of disk space it will stop recording VMs

Yes, I am sure the VM system was disabled due to low disk space, as it started working again after we deleted the saved VM's and reset the value of STOP_VM to 0. We also turned on quota notifications.

The real question at this point is: What exactly does STOP_VM and QUOTA_STOP_VM mean?

It appears that STOP_VM is flag indicating that the VM system is stopped, perhaps automatically set from the quota check. Setting it to zero restarted the VM

What does QUOTA_STOP_VM do?

I couldn't find any documentation on QUOTA_STOP_VM

No need, just follow

Yeah, I'd like to just monitor this thread but on a threaded message board style system like this (versus a Q&A like stackoverflow) once you get a reply to your question (even if it's unrelated or wrong) you tend to not get any good replies as most people won't read down the the thread.

Well, this is a community with 3CX staff but not only, it's not a channel support you paid for and have only personalized answers. Even in that case you're not sure to obtain right on target answers in once.

answers you got until now are not out of subject even the answer you wait for is not already given

Sure, I understand it's a community forum where many (most?) responses come from users and not official channels. My personal experience has shown that when working in a threaded forum, you need to use different posting techniques than a Q&A system. I wouldn't complain if 3cx switched over to a stackexchange style Q&A system.

open a paid ticket and you 'll have a dedicated engeener answering your problem ;)

Forum may be unperfect , but save life to lots of people included me. so may be you just need to be more patient to obtain answer.
