I'm testing a v20 on prem pbx (upgraded from v18) and I don't see a record option for the prompt in the digital receptionist settings. The documentation shows a record button next to the prompt selection box, but my install doesn't have that option.

Does anyone else see this?

Thanks,

Same issue, our customers do not manage their 3CX system typically. You can record using the web client if you have a microphone and/or headset, but many of our customers do not use the web client, or the person that we interact with does not. So the solution we came up with is to enable the voicemail on the admin console that you are now using on V20 for admin and have the forwarding on that X set to fwd to voicemail if unregistered or no answer. Have the person who would normally do the recording call that X and leave the new greeting as a voicemail. Then we used the admin web client to upload the voicemail. Then run that .wav file through the 3CX wav convertor at https://www.3cx.com/docs/converting-wav.file. Then you can upload the file using the admin web client. Not sure that this is the "approved" method with 3CX TS but it worked for us.

I normally ask the customer to send me a voice note on WhatsApp or by email. Seems to work quite well.

For the conversion, I have a cmd script set up that calls ffmpeg and I just drag and drop the file on to that script and it converts it. :)

I noticed this in v18. I am sad that the option to record the prompts from the IP phone is gone. It does make it difficult for receptionists to update their prompts unless they have a really good headset already linked to their computer.

When you want to record the prompts for the digital receptionist, this is not possible.
However on the user greetings the option still exists.

@3CX team: could you please bring the same option back to the digital receptionist? :)

Another +1 for this

Ran into this today. What a pain. Please put this back the way it was!

OK, so this is a solution I've just used from way out in the "left field".

Client already had some older VM greetings recorded. I asked, "what do you want the new greeting to say?".

I then cloned the existing voice using elevenlabs.io, typed the new message and uploaded the (reformatted) WAV file to the IVR.

Sure, there's a bit of extra work involved here at first, but the client was over the moon, especially since they didn't need to do the (self-conscious) recording.

And future changes will be a snap, given half the work is already done..

I love AI ‍♂️. Maybe 3CX can incorporate?

Don't know why that male symbol showed up was meant to be a thumbs up

+1 to bring this back into V20

+1 so receptionists can easily record IVR messages from their IP phones :)

+1 NEED this feature restored!

Just to ask, has everyone who posted voted on the Idea post linked earlier in this thread...?

+1 we need this back urgently before migrating !

+1 for this. Not being able to use the deskphone to record prompts and messages is hugely regressive. FreePBX has had this feature for years. Logged in user should be able to use their deskphone.

+1

Multiple clients ask frequently for this.

Record via desk phone is available in V20 for setting up voicemail greetings from the admin. So it look likes that the tech is in place.

+1 and voted in the other topic. This is critical for us, to let medical assistants record new messages using their phone while we initiate it.

This is getting ridiculous, they removed all the good features that IT admins needed.
It's getting very frustrating to use 3CX.
