Hi,

I have a ring group with forward to outside number and my mobile set to destination if no answer, for some reason this does not appear to work and the call just dies. Any ideas why this would be occurring?

Regards

Tahir

Ring group members cannot forward ring group calls as they don't "own" the call.. There have been a number of posts on this topic. Do a search in the forum for ALLOWUSEBUSYOPTFORGROUP . You can set a RG member to use the Ring my Mobile option.

Thanks for this, i did have a quick browse but could not find exactly what I was looking for, maybe I did not search well enough.

- Accept calls from Ring Groups is selected

I thought the above setting would allow me to receive calls from Ring Groups, I don't want the option 'Ring my mobile simultaneously' as we have other ring groups in the 3CX setup but its only this one I wanted to ring if it was not answered as its a priority support line.

I have tried the following:

  1. Go to settings then Parameters
  2. Use the search bar, and type in – ALLOWUSEBUSYOPTFORGROUP
  3. Change the Value to 1
Multiple calls from a ring group will now be presented to users.

Do I need to restart any services for the above to become live? At the moment making this change does not change anything and incoming calls to the RG is not calling the external number to forward the call.

Ok, the above did not work, however this post appears to have helped resolve the issue with an Outbound rule.

I think my default setup had tagged extensions for the default rule so it was not being applied to the ring group and the flow target could not be created to create the external call.

Thanks for all the help, this seems to be resolved now.

ALLOWUSEBUSYOPTFORGROUP
this setting change is not 3CX supported even it may work, it can also be source of unexpected behavior.

Thanks, I am not using it now anyway as have favoured 'Outbound Rule' to do what I need.

On another issue, is it possible to create a Outbound Rule based on a RG? So for example I have a RG, when the users in the group dont pick up it forwards the call to an external number (all this is working fine) but I am trying to get it to forward the call via a different trunk so the outbound Caller ID is different. The problem is the call gets routed via the default trunk which is not what I want even though I have specified in the rules that if the call orginiates for the ring group then go out of this seconday trunk but it appears to be ignored:

12/15/2019 3:24:45 PM - L:73.1[Line:10002<<anonymous] forwards call from HuntGrp:807 to Out#:>>Rule{Default Outbound}>>#mobilenumber# based on rule

I guess you already forgot about this?

For the same reason you had to adjust your outbound rule to make it work, you can't scope a rule to the ring group. The call isn't coming from the ring group, it's coming from the 'system'. What you can do is put a prefix on the outside number and then make a rule based on the prefix to use the other trunk

The issue I have is as follows:

Line 1 - Calls the main ring group (all staff) works fine.
Line 2 - Calls a helpdesk ring group > if calls not answered its supposed to dial out to the on call mobile. (This needs to dial out from Line 2 so techs know the helpdesk number and can add to their phones and identify the call)

The problem is that sometimes it appears with the helpdesk number, sometimes the user who is calling's mobile number or land line number comes through. The other issue is as its a single SIP provider offering both lines i doubt they can allow me to add a prefix to identify the line as they just provide DDI's and the line.

So, how can I achieve the above? I did try the extension route also but it dials out as a private number and seems to be more of a problem to fix.

I am not the best with the outbound rules so trying to find a suitable working solution to the problem.

Hi,

If you create a prefix rule with a specific prefix and also strip the prefix digits inside the same rule, you can then forward your call from the RG to say your prefix+mobile and the system will

  • Remove the prefix and keep only the mobile number
  • Use the route (trunk) you select
  • Should show the ID of that trunk
You can improve the way you use outbound rules to meet your requirements, just take a look at our academy advanced outbound routing:
